So a buddy of my best friend of mine says, "so you and your friend are interested in concealed carry permit and soing some shooting, I've got the guy for you". Well, the days started out ok

our trainer was at the meeting point when we arrived, however the hood was up on his car.... and the question was, could we take your truck (my truck) to the range.... well, I said sure and we loaded up for what turned into an hour haul to the public range. (the local gun club is being remodeled).

into the middle of no-where there was a dozen other folks at the rail, shooting this and that. we set up next to a guy with what seemed to be a cannon with a stock....

we were expecting several guns to choose from, however there were only two...
and one of them was double feeding so it was down to one which my best friend and I shared......

the saftey instruction was... well.... less than....
My dad's instruction from 20 years ago came back to me...

I did fine and enjoyed shooting a bunch of 45 rounds, and I want to check with my Dad, wonder if he has his old service revolver.... or any of the other pistols he had back when......

I wish it would warm up here.... I got 4 (new to me) Ruger Stainless P Series that I want to take out and do a Test/Fam Fire with. I already put their new Hogue grips on and the 45 ammo arrives Monday.  I could do the indoor range, but I prefer the outdoor range(s) better.  I belong to a Sportsman's Club that has an indoor range (pay 5 bucks to use it) and a few outdoor ranges.... plus a bunch of other outdoor shooting "areas".

I absolutely love taking the .500 to a public range.  Last time I was positioned right next to a guy shooting a .44 magnum.  You wouldnt think that .06" would matter so much but I think that guy lost an eyebrow and had to clean his pants after my first round.....its the difference between "Bang" and "BAWOOOOOOM"

The other plus is holes in the target big enough to see without binoculars at 25 yrds.

Love big bores, Been looking at the polished Desert Eagle, but for now guess my BFR in 45-70 will have to do.  Its a fine shooting piece, and never fails to impress

I just realized, I've never taken my 500 to a public range, might hafta do that some time just for the heck of it, especially with my 700 grain hand loads, those always leave an impression!

However, yeah, taking my Desert Eagle .44 to the range is a blast... People hear the sound of a big more, and count off 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 shots, then relax... Then I shoot shots #7, #8 and #9... Smiley

At the fun show this weekend this early 1980's Rossi Puma (Winchester model 92 knock off) in .44 magnum followed me home. Took it out to the land to run her through her paces, so far I'm very impressed!
