Well looks like GOTF is a bust for us.
Roadkills wife's bike has some serious issues and we'll be loading it on a truck for the return trip.

Hate to guess at this point, V-twin went "pop" and died. No compression. Have some guesses, but none are good

Sounds like she might have burned a hole in a piston.    If that be the case, put forged buckets & chrome rings back in it.   It will take like 3,000 to 5,000 miles to set those rings, so don't worry about thae blue smoke out the pipes in that time period.    It will be a stronger engine.

My son's Chopper engine from S&S has forged buckets and chrome rings.   It is either a 113 or a 133 ", and no other mod's.  It gives the Valk all he wants in a drag or a 3rd gear roll on.

Made it home with the Wife's junk in a U-haul and My sweet Valk parked in with it for moral support .

My guess is cam timing/valve train issue. Will know more in the LATE A.M. or afternoon.

Did not make the destination,BUT the journey was still a great one....and that is what it is all about!  cooldude  More details to come L8R . G-Nite

The Problem was the Screaming Eagle that has left her on the side of the road more than once, The fix is the Honda Magna in the garage now.

 2funny

She is going to hunt me down and hurt me before this is all done.

I've heard of that mod.  Good to hear that it was just a simple remove and replace job.

We were traveling 70-75 mph just past Jacksonville TX. I was riding sweep and saw a 1 foot flame out of 1 pipe when it backfired,Lori turned and motioned that it was dead and we fought traffic a bit to get her to the right shoulder.

First check was for spark and we had none but the sound of that 10:1 compression motor spinning over that fast made my stomach churn. I shook it off and went to finding spark

I found a pinched wire behind the ignition module that had found ground, firing the rear cylinder out of time (BACKFIRE) and setting a fault in the Dyna IGN module. Electrical tape and reset static timing and we had spark again! My hopes raised but only slightly because she still spun over too fast for such an impressive (V-Twin) air pump.

Pulled plugs and using my finger checked for compression....It tried to suck my arm into the cylinder but ZERO pressure blowing back on squeeze stroke  Angry :'( ???

At that point I pleaded with Brian (Gunslinger) to be on his way to GOTF and told Lori (ASKED) to call AAA for a wrecker. My denial was over.

With both cylinders down on squeeze and a good intake pull I suspected bent valves and a cam timing issue to be at fault (because it affected both cylinders )

Sure enough after 700+ miles in a U-haul I found the ugly truth

The massive misfire had shocked the crankshaft hard enough that the weight of the valvetrain in motion at high RPM sheared the key on the cam gear and probably bent all the valves. I wont know for sure on the valves until the heads are off but a quick check on craigslist (and 2800 $) bought me plenty of time to procrastinate the teardown  cooldude

Roadkill.... wish Y'all could have made it down!!!!!!   it's a bummer... but don't let it get ya down too much.  Hey... same thing happened to my 97 valk... bent and ex valve... pulled the head... replaced the valve and guide.. had it back on the road for many more trips!!!!  A valve timing slip on an interference engine will mess up some valves....
  We sure missed seein' ya!
Hopefully we will hook up on a trip this summer!!!!
