First, I have a 98 Tourer with 65K.  I live in Michigan, work for a construction co, so funds are limited.
1) Buying replacment windshield - Is clearview the best choice?  And do they only sell direct?
2) Would like to add visibility to the front and back.  What's the best LED bulbs, etc for the back (tail & blinker)?  Have visited radiantz.com & customdynamics.com.  Front - PIAA look good, but pricey.  Someone on a previous post mentioned Walmart.  Are they chrome?
3) Good communication devices?  When riding with my wife, we ride with a Wing & 2 Ultra Classics.  On my own, I prefer no communicating.  Drives them crazy, but keeps me sane.
4) Saddlebag Racks.  Something to put a small bag on that my wife can access on rides.
5) Set pad for my wife.  Have stock Valk seats.
6) Air Horn.  Rivco looks great, but again, kind of pricey.  Stebel?
7) GPS - Probably not this year, but any suggestions?
Cool My throttle has a lot of play.  Per Valk book, I have to take the tank off to adjust?
9) O-Rings leaking.  Is it easy to take them off?  It seems like loosen the top clamps and bottom two bolts.  Hopefully it's that easy.                          Please respond to one or several.  Thank You!

O-rings leaking: You should be able to take screws out: Lift tubes up and remove and replace O-rings. I just de-smogged my 01 interstate and replaced them at that time. Good Luck ride safe.

Wow, you're right, SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!

I can give my opinion on the horns. I just purchased and installed the FIAM-hi-way blasters. They are regular horns, not air horns (high and low tones). Compressors are sometimes tempermental. I found a site before buying  that let me listen to a variety of  horns. I decided on the Hi-way Blasters.

My stock horn was "WIMPY" to say the least. The Hi-way blasters sound awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try and find a site that has the sound track. I you can't, contact me and I will let you hear them over a cell phone. I'm telling you, I love them.........................

I did need a relay and a fuse link so I didn't overload the start switch. Even that wasn't so bad, but the sound is worth the price and the time to install.

#2 Signal Dynamics, good.
#7 The fun is getting loss and keep riding. Your wife can tell you where to go, when to turn right or left and when to stop.
#8 No, you do not need to remove the tank to adjust the throttle. You can take up slack at the handle bar controls, loosen the lock nut and adjust by turning the long nut on the outer cable.
#9 Yes, it is that easy. Except, I would remove one side at a time and clean the mating surfaces to get good sealing by the new o-rings.

 Good Luck.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

if you are gutsy and handy, you can make your own led array for the stock signals. I can even send you the 24 led's, as I bought 1500 of them, for a Christmas project, and have quite a few left over. Here's the info:

I have the Scala G4's, pricey, but very nice - bluetooth to my phone, so I can take emergency calls (the ONLY ones I take!), and listen to streaming radio stations, and my mp3's. Also, can talk with other Scala's, like the Q2. Up to a mile range, so you get the annoying yelling of the wife for a minute or two, when you leave her at the gas station, in a neighboring state, but other than that...   Grin

I have the Stebel Nautilus. A great, loud horn, at a great price. Make sure you set it up on a relay, though. Hid my relay under the cover at the front of the tank, used the stock horn's wiring to trigger the relay, just ran one hot, and went to ground. Just make sure you use the + and - on the horn - hard to see, especially if you don't read directions - we don' need no stinkin' direkshuns!!!

If you just want a stripped down GPS, I would go with the Nextar - at $40 and free shipping, I plan on getting one, JUST to leave on the bike. I won't be too worried about it, rain, exposure to the elements, etc, like I am with my NICE one. Amazon has them:

I bought a Clearview to replace the OEM Honda one that came with my '97 std...VERY good replacement. Thicker than the OEM, so more stable. They are custom made when you order, and are available with several options including different heights (I got mine 2" shorter than the OEM), tint or clear and a vent available for increased air flow. It took a couple of weeks, but the result was really good, and I highly reccomend them. As far as I know, they are direct only...

5)  buttbuffer.com  had mine installed inside of seat. IMO best there is
6)  dual horns from a dodge caravan, dakota or dodge truck horns. extremely loud. add two up front and two under the swing arm. parts yard or u-pull-it, low cost

2)  for rear turn signals http://electricalconnection.com/index2.htm
for front two driving lights in a triangle pattern with the main headlight.
http://www.lrc.rpi.edu/nlpip/lightinganswers/mr16/needtoknow01.asp   walmart has a set of chrome lights for about $20 that use the MR16 bulbs. Motorcycle consumer news did a light test a few yrs ago and when company used the MR16 bulbs except they were bike specific about $200, and they rated the best. the MR16 bulbs are the key.

Can't weigh in on Clearview. My vote is for Rifle windshields and lowers. Offer thicker and wider shield than any I know of. Had a Memphis and saw the Rifle on someones bike in Dillon, CO Inzane and promptly replaced, been happy ever since. BIG BIKE NEEDS BIG SHIELD!!! (Also very reasonable).  www.rifle.com

1. Love my Clearview. Bought a 'second' direct from the factory that supposedly had a blemish, that I never found.
2. I use a Whelen TIR3 for a 'third eye' brake light on the sissybar, intense red light.
5. Upgraded to Mustang seats and backrest, and added removable armrest from Big Bike Things, no complaints from the wife.
6. I run the Rivco and am pleased with it, have friends with Stebel that seems almost as loud.
7. Garmin Nuvi on a RAM Mount.
9. Those orings should be pretty easy but you will find that once they get this old, they all need replacement. Put a carb rebuild on the list for next winters projects, and while you're at it do a full desmog and replace all hoses so you won't have to worry about them for another 13 years (just my opinion, oughta be yours!).

Either an air horn from Harbor Freight (Princes Auto in Canada), the hwy regular horns, or a set of Goldwing GL1800 (I bought on ebay, pinwall).

I think even any North Ameriacan car manufacturer (Ford, Dodge, etc) would have usable horns from the wrecker. I went GW to keep it bike parts and Honda.

I use the Stebel compact mounted under the swimgarm and pointed down at the road. Yhis keeps water from entering as well as bouncing the sound of the road. Woeks good. Wolo makes a Stebel(made in Italy) knockoff which is made in China, if it matters to you.
I have Custom Dynamics LED turn signals, work great. I had a problem with one of them, the company sent me out a replacement immediatly, I used that box to return the defective one. Great company.
If you watch Ebay you can occasionally get a Radiantz taillight at a deep discount, like close to half price.
Check Redeye tech for intake O-rings, they are made of more resistant material than OEM.

Spent $8 at an auto junk yard for a set of horns off a Dodge Caravan.
Bout $20 worth of electrical stuff (wires, relay, connectors) some stainless steel bolts and clamps to bolt it to the undercarriage by the kickstand and 45 mins. of time.

UnGodly simple to do.
Don't know the decibel level, but my ears hurt when I set'em off.

Quick Update.  I ordered the Clearview replacement with vent last night.  Also ordered the o-rings from Redeye Tech.  The air horn and lights are next.  Thank you all for a bunch of great responses.  Smiley  Now its a "quick" evaluation of the various options listed by everyone and then get the items ordered!  Thanks again.  By the way, Walkure, I'm not handy, or gutsy, enough to try the "make my own" LED signal.  But thanks for the offer.

"4) Saddlebag Racks.  Something to put a small bag on that my wife can access on rides."

Not sure exactly what you're looking for here bit I do have a set of saddlebags and racks that came with my bike that I'll let go cheap (couple hundred, OBO)

I can send pictures and we can talk if interested.

In short their studded leather bags with buckles and the racks are chrome that make like a "L" shape to support the bags on the bottom.
