What I have to laugh about is that people that consider themselves 'patriots' would much rather complain about taxes, would much rather be selfish, than do what is necessary to protect and restore the country they so proudly proclaim, through personal sacrifice, aka, higher taxes.

It rings hollow.

no, that's not it.

it's when you watch the school district spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to renovate several schools, then close them down the next year.  it's watching your own children crowded into class rooms of 30 kids and one teacher only to hear THAT SAME S.O.B say they need to pass a referendom for $52 million dollars because the schools are over crowded and they need to expand!!!  it's watching those that spending our money make idiotic decisions while they collect thier $200,000 per year pay and call themselves DOCTORS.

that's what pisses people off.  it's not the tax.  it's the way it's spent.

we didn't get to a $14,000,000,000,000 deficiet by making the RIGHT decition.

nothing to do with being patriotic.

UNBELIEVABLE! Trying to rile up the board again.

One cannot be riled without giving his permission to be so.

I'm actually more lenient with that permission that I need to be, but I'm working on it.

It's a bit interesting that we each define patriotism in differing terms.  One taxpayer sees taxpaying as the meter.  A veteran may view military service and sacrifice as the qualifier.  The racist my see it in the defense of his own race; the cultural bigot in the defense of his own culture.  The truly progressive looks for it in a commitment to change; the conservative in the zeal to return to the preferred values of the past.

"But he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke the same cigarette as me!"

I choose not to be riled because I hold a legal document attesting that I have a "vile and uncontrollable temper."  I try to keep the beast at bay.   Wink

I'm not much of a patriot, but I would lay down my life for some of my own family and those who are truly supportive members of my own political viewpoint and children, but not all children, oh, and people who have helped make me wealthy, mostly, and, of course, those who share my own religious and cultural views, but only the ones that really believe fully as I believe and, without fail for those who have served putting their lives on the line for me, especially if they openly acknowledge that it was I for whom they risked and those who ride the same brand of bike as do I if they ride in the way that I ride or at least defend my right to do so.  Honestly, the list of those for whom I would kill is more abundant than the list of those for whom I would die.  On the other hand, I will ride for almost anyone.

Having read this post & many others of it's ilk, I can only assume the following about the poster.
Back when the evil & vile GWB forced the lower tax rates upon the country the poster was so angered by the vile act of decreasing the tax rate that he continued to pay his taxes at the previous higher tax rate. Which of course was his way of being "patriotic".  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Yeah, I'll bet!!!!!!!!!!  2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny
