But inquiring minds want to know!
Why is a coil looking spring around my radiator hose? I know the spring is suppose to be inside the hose. Its just a piece of wire wrapped around it. What purpose does it serve?uo uglystupid2

Just guessing here, but I always assume it was there as a sort of shield, to lessen the chances of road debris from puncturing the hose...

Serk is right on target....it's protection for the hose. I covered mine with some expandable SS sleeving, others use the shiney  slinky on later models.

That makes sense. My slinky has a 1/4" gap all the way down so I guess I'll modify.
