You driving straight through? When do you think you will be through Amarillo?
I only drink black coffe myself.
I have tried the iced mochas at McD's and Sonic, tasty,  but it is not my preference.
The Hastings stores here have Starbucks in them. One is block south of  I-40 on Georgia.
Roasters is another coffee shop a lot of people like and there is one half block east of the Hastings in a little strip mall.

Sorry about your dad.

Safe winds brother and so sorry for the loss of your Dad.  He sure raised an awesome son, for sure and for certain.  We have a cappacino that isn't bad at the Escom office over here in Africa.  Stop on by (might be a tad out of your way) but I sure would love seeing you and we'll leave the lights on for you (as long as the generators run).

Sorry for your loss and stay safe brother.

Luv ya man!

Kendall headed out this morning --- a BIG Thanks to BigBF for all his struggling with the White Dragon --- she was definately being a PITA.  Replaced the brushes in the alternator -- didn't work, swapped out for a loaner alternator, got Kendall about 20 miles away from Bill's place and that one quit --- Bill picked him & the White Dragon up on the highway and brought them back to his place -- ultimately ended up swapping the alternator off our Noisy bike to the White Dragon.

All that later (oh in pouring down rain & hail to boot) --- Kendall headed out this morning.  If you see his White Dragon along the way between Arizona and Arkansas (or on the way back) be sure and wave to him -----

Keep him in your prayers as he travels to Arkansas to pay his final respects to his Father --- I am going to do the best I can not to stress about him being on the road --- I wish I had the time and stamina to make that turn around trip with him.

Be safe my love xoxoxoxoxo

I will have to wave from the office as he goes by on I-40, since he will probably go through here mid morning. Maybe the return trip?  Keep us up to date on his progress please Des. I will keep good thoughts his way for his trip until he returns to you!

Hope this wind dies before tomorrow. 30-40 mph out of the west. With gusts to 50-55.

Well, one good thing is that wind out of the west will give him a tail wind.  At least help the gas mileage.

Drive safe, buddy.

Kendell is back on the road.  he left Amarillo about 12:45 pm heading east. Had a nice short visit and he is in good spirits.  Kendall stated he wanted to make the OK / AR border by this evening.  Weather is clear with a slight crosswind.

Thanks for the update Charlie --- one thing has led to another and I've pretty much missed all of his messages today   Embarrassed

I'm hoping he gets into a hotel earlier this evening --- he's been running late both Saturday night before he left and again last night --- would like to know he's got some much needed rest.

I'm sure I'll hear from him again soon   Smiley

Kendall and Des,

I am so, so sorry to hear about your loss.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  I know you'll ride safely on your journey, Kendall.  Your Dad is watching out for you...and from what I have read, so are all the people here.  I think we're all riding with you.

Thanks for the updates, Des.  I know this is not easy for you.

It's the nice thing about the VRCC.  Once you meet and ride with some you always have some type of support or kinship.  I'll try to visit more often but my job is like the wind.  Where there is work, I go.

Don't forget on the way back if you need a break, Cadilac Ranch is one of those obsure sites to see.  Take the Hope Rd exit and follow it to the first left hand turn.  Cross the overcrossing and turn right and you can't miss it on the left.  Stanley Marsh's great masterpiece.

Leaving Wednesday for Monroe Michigan.

Have a safe trip.

For those of you who are interested, this place is in Groom TX.  Right off the interstate.  At night you can see it for miles before you get there.

Besides the cross (advertised as the largest west of the Mississippi) you will se in the picture statues of Jesus carrying the cross.  There is also a replica of Calvary and the building to the right is a chapel being built.

Don't know why it was built here but if you are crossing the Panhandle of Texas, you can't miss it.

The Groom Cross is located between Interstate 40 and old Route 66 going west out of Groom, Texas. It was built by Steve Thomas of Pampa, Texas in 1995. Mr. Thomas, disgusted with the huge billboards advertising XXX pornography locations along I-40 wanted to make a public profession of faith along the Interstate. Originally he wanted to put up his own billboard with Bible verses but could never find the appropriate verse. Instead, inspired by a cross built by a rancher in Ballinger, Texas, Mr. Thomas knew that he would build a cross. Built on private property donated by Chris Britten to avoid legal issues with the ACLU at a height of 190 feet, the Groom Cross is reported as being the biggest cross in the northern hemisphere.

---From the road wander site.
PS.. Steve Thomas is the father or NFL retired pro Zach Thomas.
