I got to ride yesterday, just a short 50 mi. I got caught behind a pickup truck going 15 under.  Waited for a passing zone and as I looked out around I heard a roar beside me. A Harley dressed as a drag bike came by me like I was sitting still, never saw him or heard him.
Even though he had a 1/4 mile on me I figured WTH and decided to keep him honest for a bit. I did find that I am less than comfortable when indicating solidly into the triple digits so I dropped off. The tourer wasn't. It was happily climbing past 110 when the little angel said "This will really hurt if you fall off dumbazz". (My angel is a little rough around the edges, she's been used hard)

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

And I thought loud pipes saved lives.

Problem is he has already came up behind ya before you heard him.

I always said that myth never held water.

Oh yeah, you can hear em for miles if they are in front of ya, but what good does that do?

I'll shut up now and we will return to our normal programming.

Don't you dare change that dial.

I hear ya on the triple digits thing.  I "had" to do it once after getting the valk....got it quickly and easily to 128 indicated or so....she was still inching up, but I wasnt going to hold out to see how high...cars on the freeway going the same direction as me seemed to be standing still, that voice was the same though.........dummy this is going to leave a mark........

dont see what this has to do with loud pipes......but for RJ, I saw your T_shirt in Daytona.........it said   "My bike isint too loud...youre just too old"   now, before you get all mad at me......when I saw that I thought "I resemble that remark"  LOL

And I thought loud pipes saved lives.

I think the origin of that phrase has more to do with getting cut off or lane encroachment in traffic than getting passed at triple digits.
