I watched a few episodes of Auction Kings on the Discovery channel and decided I had to go check it out since it's just about 60 miles away in Sandy Springs(North Atlanta).....the Wife had a bead show about 5 miles from the Gallery 63 site, so I dropped her off on Saturday and went to peruse the offerings for the auction that was going to be held on Sunday.....

They had a Delorean sitting in front of the place.....

They also had a mid 60's Mustang sitting there....I'm not really into them, but it looked sweet.... cooldude

They also had a bicycle with a 49cc engine on it....I wanted to bid on this thing the next day....I did, but it went for around $800....a little more than I wanted to spend.... Undecided

I went ahead and pre-registered on Saturday and got my auction # for the big day on Sunday....the auction was supposed to kick off around 11am, but they start earlier if the seating fills up before that...I got there just before 9am and got in pretty fast when they opened the doors...I sat in the bleacher section to the left as you look out at the crowd from the stage area.....I was just wearing jeans and a button up collared shirt with motorcycles and American flags all over it.....I sat near the edge about half way up the section....

They had little foam pads on the wooden bleachers, but after sitting on them for 3 hrs straight(a record for me since I have a peanut sized bladder)...I finally had to get up and relieve myself and get a hotdog and coke from their concession stand....and it figured that they'd auction the Mustang and Delorean off while I was in line to eat.... tickedoff tickedoff....I think the Mustang went for around $16,000....and the Delorean went for over $50,000???...I'll have to watch that episode to find out for sure because I never asked what it sold for..... Undecided

They sold some of the German Lugers.....most went for around $900....I never cared for them anyways....

I did bid on a mountain bike and lost it went a guy bidding against me took it out of what I wanted to pay for it....I also lost out on a LARGE toy model of a WWII Army Jeep with GI Joe figures, helmets, etc, etc in it inside a plastic case.....the guy lost me when he pushed me past $300.....

The main item I really wanted was this Captain's Davenport Desk....it was a neat little writing desk with a ton of drawers in it....they were made for ship captains since space was limited....I had researched them so I'd know what they were worth.....original ones made back in the late 1800's to the early 1900's range in value from $1,500-$4,000..... Shocked Shocked....even the reproduction ones go for ~$500......I think this one is an original one with the hand crafted dovetails in the drawers and cracks in the wood in a couple of places as it's dried over time.......

I sat at the auction from 9am to 5:30pm when this item came up for bid....the same guy who beat me out on the bike was bidding against me for this desk....I could NOT let him win it too, so I won it at $325 +tax and auction premiums of 15%.... cooldude.....I wanted it to put by my bed to store all my watches, knives, and assorted junk in....pistols....ammo, flashlights and etc....

It had thinned out by about 3pm, so I was able to move around some and play musical chairs.....I'm not sure if I'll be on the TV show for sure, but I didn't go for that reason anyways.....it was boring at times, and amusing at others....the 2 auctioneers had a good sense of humor and kept the mood light and told lots of jokes...some that won't make the show I'm sure....and there was plenty of "eye candy" there too..... cooldude Cheesy Grin....all in all it was a good day...the furniture was going for some GREAT prices...I'll probably go back again one of these days.... cooldude
