hello took brake light lens off to see why it looked so dull. What I found is the bottom half of reflector part(shinny chrome) not there looks as though it was rubbed off.  Does anyone know of a fix without replacing whole assembly. Thanks Matt

clean it up the best you can, sand it , then paint with some of that cheap chrome paint from wally world..it will help..though I don't think a replacement brake light should be all that expensive...but haven't checked, so who knows..

Line it with foil. The kind you wrap food with. Simple fix and won't melt or peel.

The other options are definitely cheaper.  The entire base can be ordered from HDL for $93.  That's a lot of foil!

Keep an eye on Ebay listings for Valkyrie parts. I've never seen the reflector alone offered but you can find the whole assembly, used, quite a bit cheaper than 93 bucks.
Alternately, keep an eye out (on Ebay) for a Radiantz LED taillight, they aren't cheap but throw a lot of light and the reflector becomes just a support for the LED board, won't matter if it has chrome on it or not.

Foil or paint are so-so.  If you can find a small piece of the same bright silver plastic, like from an old flashlight, cut it up and glue it in.

An LED taillight array is an excellent upgrade.

Several of us have done the Radiantz LED replacement and it's a huge improvement over stock.  Plug and play.  They list at $99.99.  I got mine off eBay for $89.99 / free shipping, but a certain individual got his for $89.99 from Amazon but applied for the credit card and got $30.00 off with free shipping.

I'd call PINWALL (1-330-879-9910).  My guess is that you have about a 99% chance of getting a OEM replacement in like new condition for about 1/3  to 1/2 price, including s/h.  I've had very good results getting stuff (like new rear wheel/ like new rear caliper and several other things) from them.  I can't imagine that there have been alot of requests for tail light assemblies, so your chances should be good.

You can also switch to a sylvania 3496 bulb and you'll have a brighter brake light. Claims to be 3 times brighter.
