Alright the stock seat is what it is. I like it but on longer rides a Backrest would be nice. I'm looking to add a backrest to it. Any ideas? Anyone been down this road?

"Utopia" was the brand everybody was buying, to go with a stock seat, way back when.  Don't know if they are still making them for the Valk now.  But that would be the one to look for.  I had one - sold it long ago when I got a Mustang setup which included a backrest.  Now I'm on an Ultimate seat which also includes the same.  Here's what it looked like.  Try googling for it - also check with Mike at http://valkyrieblingandmore.com/  I see Utopia's web site still exists at http://www.utpr.com/

I bought a Utopia for the I/S last summer. After a few days dreading cutting into my stock saddle, it only took about 1/2 hour to install. It got me to Toronto (2500 miles) and back last July. You can adjust it easily at hi-way speeds; with gloves on!

I love this thing, best purchase for the Valk I've made yet.

For the Standard/Tourer: $179.00.

This one is also pretty cheap ... $75.00 with free shipping.  Found it on e-bay.

Seller has a pretty good feedback rating.  However, I have not seen one in person, so don't know the quality.

$75.00 shipped is pretty cheap though if budget is the concern.

I was fortunate to find on these classifieds a vrcc member who sold me an excellent i/s seat with the utopia backrest already mounted. I live a little over 3 hrs from st louis-that drive and $150.00 got me that seat. Absolutely will NOT leave home with out it. Best money i've spent in awhile. You could spend more and do a lot worse. 2funny RIDE SAFE.

I have the Utopia on my interstate seat and have since done the Super Valk thing with a Stock Standard seat. I wanted a back rest for the Standard seat, so I called Utopia and they sold me the Standard base Bracket for $50... that is their policy and I had no problem with it. So now I can use the pad with both seats, just unbolt it from the base bracket and move to the other.....

I usually switched the seat when I put the trunk, but If I don't plan on a passenger, I don't have to anymore to have a backrest- Also, the Utopia will work with one of the chrome seat rails if you have it.. Bob at Utopia wasn't sure, but it does work...He now has it listed in his notes.

I looked at others online, but the nice thing is that the Utopia is adjustable... So if you want to tilt it front or back you can even do it on the fly ( for those days when you've had to much BBQ on the road!)..... most of the others do not adjust....

Also I have had very good service from them. The I/S seat bracket was bent in a wreck a year ago, and he sent me a replacement for $20 plus shipping and had it to me in 3 days..... Great people!!!

Worth the bucks in my opinion....

Utopia on a 99 standard - also have to pouch for extra storage - one of the best accessories I purchased.   Get you some footpegs and then you can really kick back comfortably.
