....Ya Jess...that would be the Au Sable river...or as we say it in jersey....Ausable.. ....supposed one of the best fly fishing rivers in the world so they say...although when we canoe it..(and we have many times)...we always ask the fly fisherman how their luck is going...and they always seem to be in a slow part of the river....its also home to the Annual Ausable Canoe Race...that people from all over the world come to compete in the over night race.....cant believe you were that close and didnt look us up...I,ll let cha slide on that...this time.. ....hope to c ya at Inzane this year.. ....Pat...you know you and the missus have a room available to you...anytime you find yourselves in this area...c ya at Inzane !

Whats the details of this canoeing thing? Times, $$, etc. Sounds like fun. We might hang around and do it. I can't swim so if we go over make sure Kit dont hold me under with the paddle.

. . ...Fudgie. ..not to worry man. ...the Au Sable is a slow moving river, that is mostly a foot to two feet deep, with a few place that might be up to your waist...just make sure Kit dosent ask you to help her strap a few bags of..Instant Cement..to the bike.. ...Grayling is a tiny town, geared towards tourism...we cater to hunters..snowmobilers...skiers...fishermen...so there ALOT of small mom and pop motels in the area that pride themselves on cleaniness and are biker friendly....I recommend the cabins at Penrods Canoes that is right on the Au Sable River...and they also rent the canoes..(25 dollars for 3 hours)....they have these small cabins that you can see in this pic, that are right on the river. The river is just out of site in this pic, right next to those chairs. We usually get a premade sammich at Subway...chips/sodas...and stop half way at the canoe camping sites and have lunch. They pick you up at a preplanned area...load yer canoe for ya...and give ya ride right back to the canoe place and cabins ! Plus the Canoe Rental/Cabins are about 1/2 mile down the road from our place !

Timbre and Chili, I can most certainly vouch for the many nice reasonable Mom and Pop motels in Grayling and that it's a nice town. It hasn't changed much since I first was there in 1947 except for the nice park downtown on the AuSable.
I'll be busy around Memorial Day moving from my home of 56 years to an apartment and getting resettled.. Sorry, can't make it, the food looks great!

I'll send yaz a list with contact numbers and rates, Fudgie. Anybody else want a copy send me an email. If you can't get into Penrod's (they fill up early for Memorial day and the mom and pop's are cheaper) there are plenty of back-ups. Ya Wayne...they're all very clean. Don't hurt yourself moving stuff...that's what dem big boys o your'n r for Sorry you can't make it. Hope to see you in Bellaire again with your rice-burner golf cart
