First time in 36 years I got hurt on a bike! From a stop  I was pulling around some cars waiting to make a left turn, one pulled out in front of me I hit the brakes and lost the bike on gravel. Les than 5 mile an hour! Broke my Tibia up by the Knee, twisted my ankle up and my toe is turning purple Ouch! I was shocked how many people stopped and helped, the lady who pulled out, passer byes, store owners.
In a real busy intersection in Monroe NY. The cops were great, somebody reported a bad MC accident and they activated the "Stat Flight" .  OMG ! I turned down the ambulance ride and flat bed,  My son in law and nephew, and they drive me and the bike home. Bike is fine, Orthopedist in the AM. Glad my wive was home.

bonzo.... one good thing is that you were not hurt worse, and you will heal to ride another day.  the man upstairs had his eyes on you, and kept you safe.  i hope you heal/mend quickly.  my prayers are with you too.

Don't be afraid to get a second opinion from a different doc if you don't like what he says. In particular if he is talking surgery and adding metal to your leg. Wish I had done so when I broke mine.

good thing you didn't go for a helicoptor ride!!  those can cost up to $15,000 and are NOT covered by most insurances!!!  i went on an ambulance ride once and it cost me $500 to go 4 miles, then after they released me from the ER i walked the 4 miles back to the clinic were i got in my truck and drove home.

glad to hear you're going to be alright.

the cycle's still good right?

Bike is good! just broke the air horn off no biggie. My nephew rode it home. Went down on my right side. Red Wing Boots, good jeans, a denim jacket and gloves ( of course a helmet)  probably saved some skin at least. I appreciate all the comments and humor! I have not had a drink in 30 years, let me tell you these percoset pills are dangerous! I still ache, but who cares LOL. Make me itch and I cant sleep. Thank goodness I am under adult supervision ( Patty). Thanks again!

Lucky it turned out ok. If it was a bad break you'd still be in the hospital. We took a guy 9 days ago to the ER when he wrecked his moped. Left tib break at the knee. Our ortho, who is the best in the State, would not touch it here. Had to go to a bigger hospital for the surgery. Guy was there 6 days and got some screws, no cast. We then took him to a nursing home for rehab. He's gotta be there for at least a month if not more.  Undecided

Bonzo, I'm sorry to hear of your accident, guess that is proof that even the best riders can go down. Glad you were well taken care of, and hope the suffering is small, recovery is quick & medication is more than adequate. It you get really desperate for a ride, let me know, your size is no problem for the trike (if you don't mind wearing a blonde wig), Bear Mountain was a great ride, plus it'd be great to see you again.

I know how it feels to have a broken bone, be in a cast ,and looking at the Dragon in the garage.  Frustrating!  Cry Angry Sad :  Mulitply that by as many years as you've been riding and I can't imagine!!  Just do what your wife and doctors tell you to do and heal up.  It will go quicker if you don't fight it. Good wishes and good luck.  You'll be riding again soon! Wink
