What oil (type) should be run in the fat lady? the Previous idiot..er I mean owner just said "oil" what do you guys think. I was raised with castrol products. Does she need motorcycle oil or will car oil do????

Motorcycle oil doesn't have certain additives that might make your clutch slip, some/many non-motorcycle oils do.

Here's Chet's FAQ page. http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/ Whatever oil you choose, make sure it doesn't have "Energy Conserving" in the bottom half of the circle on the back. Marty

+1 on the Mobil 1 15-50. I switched from the Amzoil which was my all time favorite motorcycle oil. I just refuse to pay their prices. I can tell no difference between the two. I may possibly start "hearing" things soon, as I am in the process of quieting down my straight pipes with home made screw in Cherry bomb mufflers.

That's why I bought my local Wally World's stock when they put it on the discontinued shelf. Marty

Just to chime in....... I have used Valvoline 20w 50 in all my bikes for the last 20+ years.... all hondas and no problems... Whatever oil you use the best thing is to change it on a regular basis..... I change mine every 3000... still cheaper to use regular oil and change it more often than to use Synth and let it go longer... its the metal dust/chip, excess gas , heat and time that effect any oil... changing it more often gets the crap outta the motor....... Just my opinion...

Another vote for the Mobil1 V-twin 20-50 oil. I like how smooth it makes the bike feel.

Just make sure it meets the specs and doesn't have energy conserving in the circle on the back label. I started out using Mobil 1 Racing T 10w40. Then tried Rotella T Synthetic 5w40. My engine got real noisy. Switched to Mobil 1 15w50 and my engine quietened down . I like it and am not switching if I can help it.
