First time recording digital video, first time editing it and first time posting to youtube... pretty educational day.   Cool

The camera was in my sunglasses.  The lense is right on the bridge of your nose.

"I-Kam Extreme" is the name of the glasses. I thought they might be nice for bike riding as well.

Every one of my plate runs missed one plate damn it.  At any rate the plate runs even with a miss were each on the order of 4.0 seconds.  Not bad since each one had a miss involved.

At 60 seconds I should be close to the money for this match in my category given past match results.  First place wins a free gun from Glock.  I would really like that if I can pull it off.  However, I was shooter 535 at the match and I wasnt the last one... so...

I looked I-Kam Extreme up, and they get great reviews; decent discounts too.  I have been looking for a small reasonably priced cam that does not mount to the bike but to my head/helmet.  Everyone's seen roads, I want to video my line of sight, like the views off Skyline drive and such.

But I need eye correction and my riding polycarb singe vision are steep, custom made for my Wiley SG1s.  On the other hand, I could just go without correction in daylight (for awhile) and probably not do too much damage.  LOL  (never wore contacts, couldn't get past the poking-my-own-eyes thing)

I have done no competition for many years, but when I practiced moving thru a row of targets (quickly), I found I had a tendency to go past them or my shots would hit the outer edge in the direction I was moving.  Of course practice is everything.

I miss the days when I had a USAF range to myself.  A few times pulling up the old El Camino w. shell, full of Garand, MIA, Mausers, SMLEs, carbine, yada with ammo cans of surplus ammo and letting our Combat Arms guys shoot them (and expert ribbons) earned me gratis use w no supervision (probably never happen at Corps ranges).  Was able to experiment with setting up multiple targets at various ranges and leave the firing line and walk, run, cover thru.  Nothing like standing at the line and squeezing at one fixed target.  The few local ranges here are all indoor, expensive, crowded and there always seems to be a couple gun slobs who are unsafe at any speed.

I went to the big NRA range in VA here once, and it is nice, but they let you shoot anything, so I was next to a guy with a 300 win mag (marvelous).  If I ever get to move to E TN, I hope to get out and enjoy the sport again.

I much prefer IDPA or USPSA or 3 gun to the Glock (GSSF) match.  They are faster and more dynamic games that have lots of problem solving, and of course, MOVEMENT!  However, IDPA doesnt award prizes, 3 gun matches etc that do offer prizes are few and far between, and USPSA isnt handy for me to attend on a regular basis.

The Glock match though...   That score of 60.26 seconds could possibly win me a gun as the high civilian in the competition class.  I would have been in the money but not first place at this match last year with a score like that.  It would have won at Oxford last fall and in some other matches that I looked up the results for.  First place = a free Glock.  I like that idea.

I wasnt all that fast in the video.  Just accurate.  Fast shines through better in other games but in GSSF the penalties stack up very quickly for sloppy shooting.  Penalties here are additions to your raw time for shooting a stage and range from 1 second to 3 for hits on the target out of the "A Zone" and 10 seconds additional time for any missed shots.

Even though I would like a more dynamic match setting than the GSSF has, I completely agree with Glock's goals for hosting these matches.  They want to offer a match that is simple and safe for any shooter of any skill level who wants to buy one of their guns and show up with it and shoot with minimal equipment.  You could literally buy the gun and some bullets and show up and play the game.  No holster needed, mag carriers, ... no equipment race either.  Performance modifications are prohibited for the most part. Also, even the last place shooter has a chance to win a gun because after the winners prizes, random prizes of cash and guns are awarded.

Im holding it in my right hand.  Thats the one I shoot with.  My left hand is there as support and muzzle control.  Its just a standard two hand grip.

I hope that works out... when I was riding behind my buddy Paul on the way to Texas I noticed that he looks
around a lot... from side to side... taking it all in...

When I was reviewing the pictures of my little camera later, I found myself laughing out loud... reviewing the pictures is
kind of like looking at one of those flip-movies, where you have slightly different pictures on cards, and it seems like a movie when
you flip through them.

The way Paul's head was moving back and forth was hilarious... might get sea-sick looking at video taken from his helmet...

Grin I know I was just being facetious as I am left handed  and left eye dominate so it looks kinda strange from that angle.

I was right hand and left eye dominant until I trained myself out of it.  That took some work to correct that.

Then try learning to switch hands and grips and eye dominance.  Thats an even harder hurtle.   cooldude

I'm left handed and right eyed. I shoot firearms left handed but taught myself to shoot a bow right handed in the hope I'd be able to shoot a bow with both eyes open. NOPE!!! Cry

Shooting with both eyes open is another thing that takes practice.  It too can be overcome.  Dry fire practice is good for it.

Left eye dominant isnt a problem with the rifle.  I can shoot either hand with a rifle but with a pistol at first I was definately left eye dominant.  Once I did enough dry fire with both eyes open I  got my grip and presentation down and I always presented it to the right eye.  No problem after that.

So far as the Corps was concerned...

Sorry, I wasnt a "Hollywood" Marine   Evil

I was in Paris Island starting on the 6th of February 1986.

I shot a 226 on our first day at the range and it was the worst thing I could do in boot.  I got recognized  tickedoff  and I shot a 231 after that ... pride was my down fall.  I should have purposfully shot mediocre until qual day and laid low. LOL  I didnt get series high shooter.  Lost it by a couple of points to a boy from Alabama.  Over the next 6 years I shot as high as a 248 but I never could seal the deal out at 500yds.  I could repeatedly shoot clean till the 500yd line.  I always dropped a couple back there... It was very frustrating.

Being a PMI, did you run across many 250 shooters?  I was a winger (CH-46 crewchief) so I didnt get to see what other units could do.  Never saw a 250 shooter in any of my units.

Well the scores for the GSSF match the video was made at finally came in.  Once again I am a brides maid...

In the "Competition" category (Glock 34 and 35) of 125 shooters I placed 12th overall, and 4th among amateurs.  Undecided

Oh well, maybe next year...

Your in the top 10% and since only the better shooters even enter that realistically puts you in probable the top 01% or better of all shooters.

Nothing to sneeze at.

Congratulation!!! cooldude

I saw only 1 250 shooter and it was a woman Marine from San Dieago. Once a month we had Marines from SD come up to get qualed. Every range took turns shooting Marines on there range. I am like you I have shot 248 several times (12) I think it was. I always lost 2 points at the 500m because of the fog and MY choice to keep shooting because of me being cocky uglystupid2 I enjoyed being a coach/ PMI because I was able to shoot everyday and teach 1000's of new Marines how to apply what they have learned about the M16A1 & M16A2.
