A buddy and I saw this night 'fore last. We were talking tonight, and we're curious - since this has happened SO many times, wondering if you've ever been contacted by people, asking about "their" bike? Maybe tracing it down through the VIN number?

When I first started looking for my Valk, last June, I came across this, and I have several emails back and forth from the jerk, trying to get my money. Here's the quotes:

This bike will make you proud,the price is $2,800.It is in excellent condition,never been involved in accidents,1500cc ,16,703 miles, VIN: 1HFSC3435WA100951,clean and clear title,no mechanical problems,no scratches,flaws or any kind of damage,all functional and it will need nothing in the near future.
   I have the bike sealed at DAS terminal in Miami,FL ready to be shipped out will take 4-5 days through DAS and it will be free,my previous buyer(his loan did not get approved)already paid for it and DAS didn't want to refund him the shipping fee.
   I cannot meet face2face I have a new job in Tucson, AZ I would like to use Autotrader Vehicle Purchase to take care of this deal, smooth and safe. Let me know if you have any other questions, hope i didn't miss anything.

Ahhh, SO much fun, to screw with them...

 

Oh yeah, it's hard to ban the guy - since he uses a picture, instead of words, you can't do a search for anything, but the title. And he changes that. Plus, the email in MY ad, is different that this NEW ad, but still gmail. So, they'd have to ban every ad with Valkyrie in it, to eliminate him doing it. But, with the picture, it's virtually impossible.

One more "oh yeah" - your bike is absolutely beautiful, the EXACT bike I would want! Well, the only way it would be PERFECT, is with Interstate bags, without the seam in the back...but that's just me, the OCD person.

I also had a similar bout with this type when we saw a street rod from our club on E-bay. It was in  wasnington and I contacted him (or her) about the car. I offered the money as cash since I was going to Washington anyway, I would look at the car and if ok, pay for it and bring it home.
 They contacted me and said the car was on the way to Miami Fl. No problem as that was my second stop, and I will meet you in Florida in 3 days.
  Now the car is in a secure area and can only be seen if it is paid for.  As we started this, I contacted a friend who contacted E-bay security and tracked the movements. Somehow they backdoored E-bay. The sight was shut down, only to reopen a month later.  Good luck, as if the saying goes, if it's to good to be true, it probably is.
  We bought my wife an old Mercedes , but flew to Florida to see it first. Got a good deal and a good car.  We saw it first.  BUYER BEWAREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Actually, a couple of months ago, a fellow contacted me by running the VIN through wife who works for a local police department. 

Hopefully, nobody has been scammed by the ba$tard.

I bought the bike off of eBay from a used motorcycle dealer who provided a great transaction.  The scammer had stolen the ad off of the eBay auction and was running it concurrently with auction and has been ever since.
