Without taking my bag support off on one side to find out, can someone tell me if I'm correct here: the front bolt is 10mmx1.25 thread, the rear bolt is 8mmx1.50 thread. Not concerned with length at the moment, just the thread....I know the diameter is correct. I have some of each around here....somewhere. Yet to be located so will go shopping tomorrow.  Undecided

I believe the bolts are items 43 & 45 on this page for the Tourer and IS...

http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID/26/Type/REAR_FENDER_-_GRAB_RAIL/MakeID/1/Make/Honda/YearID/40/Year/1999/ModelID/6791/Model/GL1500CF/GroupID/289217/Group/SADDLEBAG

Or items 10 & 11 on this page for the Standard...

http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID/26/Type/REAR_FENDER_-_GRAB_RAIL/MakeID/1/Make/Honda/YearID/40/Year/1999/ModelID/7111/Model/GL1500C/GroupID/307727/Group/REAR_FENDER_-_GRAB_RAIL

Bottom line...10 for the front...8 for the back...Sorry, don't have the pitch.

You're close John, 10 x 1.25 and 8 x 1.25.

when i needed those bolts, longer then standard,
i found that front bolt M10x1,25 was very hard to get.
i ended up buying a box of 100pcs M10x1,25x80mm, just cause i needed 2pc.

so, if you need any, and can wait till i get back to my garage (2weeks ) , i can put some in the mail.
send me a pm with address and i'll post them.

plain steel, not galvanised.

If my thinking is straight...8x1.25 is coarse thread, while 10x1.25 is fine thread and yes, it's very difficult to find. I finally ordered a 1 meter length of 10x1.25 galvanized through a local Fastenal dealer.

Can anybody tell me what a good length is to cut both the 8mm and 10mm to for the bag quick drop
conversion?  Thanks in advance.

The problem of availability is easily solved by using SAE size bolts and nuts.

Especially if you've done the nut cage modification.

Regardless, it's pretty simple to replace the nuts on the inside, and finding chrome bolts in SAE size is very easy.

The M10 has a nut welded into the front part of the rear fender, so you would first have to drill it out completely and then tap new bigger thread into it...: M12
Or you would have to grind that nut completely off first.
