I got'a question about those 1800 rotors:  1. Anyone bought and used them yet?  2.  How much did they cost?  I'm gettin' real close to needin' a pair.

Here's your proof!
6,000 miles & no problemos. Paid $148 or so apiece from HDL last year. I think any year GL1800 will do, I ordered them for a 2006. I like the wagon wheel look of the GW rotors better.  cooldude

Just keep in mind that the GoldWing rotors are thinner than the Valkyrie rotors by a few mm's which will mean a shorter life expectancy for the rotors.

The life expectancy can be positively affected by using the most friendly brake pads which are organic pads.

You give up some panic stop ability that is measurable, but easily compensated for, with a little more brake lever pressure. There are other things too that are also affected but just the same, a little more lever pressure compensates easily.

The best part of using organic pads is long, long rotor life, not to miss mentioning cost of organic pads which are very inexpensive. Like 4 sets of pads for thirty bucks.

Check the HDL OEM parts fiche. I just got front rotors for my 97 Tourer for $120.00 plus change each. The last time I looked they were around $350.00 The Goldwing rotors are near $205.00. I received them within 10 days of ordering.  Dan

Not really so.
Valk rotors 5mm thick new, wear limit 4mm.
Wing rotors 4.5 mm thick new, wear limit 3.5mm.
According to my math lessons that is the same 1 mm of wear allowance. The conclusion I would draw from that information is GW rotors are of higher quality than Valk rotors to be able to stop a slightly heavier bike with lighter, thinner rotors. They take the same pads so no difference there.

Dan in AZ your right Rotors for a 98 Tourer are $120. Wonder if they had a typo earlier.

I checked, and I see the IS front rotors are 120 also.  What a price drop!  I wonder why?

Very timely disscussion. Whos is HDL? Does anyone have a link. I just orders Valk rotors from Bike Bandit. $193. They shipped two different completely wrong rotors. I'm on a week getting them returned. I have an 1800 and the rotors look the same. Thanks for the proof picture! cooldude I just don't know what HDL is ???
