Wow, that's a great idea. (below) I can't count how many times I've had to replace those caps. I finally switched to the "viton" and haven't had to change them again since. Been on a couple of years now. Does anybody know how long the Viton caps last???

Got to back Mark on the intakes. I removed all my nipples and install bolts with fingernail polish. Very easy to remove and install nipples if I need to syn carbs. That way don't worry about any leaks from cracked rubber nipples. Of course I do like my car tires and they are not for everybody. Each their own, as long as we ride.

i have thought of doing that also.  but, sense i now use carbs 1 & 2 for my cruise control, only #6 needs a plug.  not that big of a deal.

i guess, if you desmog your cycle, you'd want to plug those five with the method above.

When I desmogged, four years ago, I could only find those el-cheapo thin colored vacuum caps
down at the big-box auto parts store... I didn't figure they'd last long and since there were a bunch
of different sizes, I put a tight one on the nipple, and then covered that one with the next size
up. I ordered OEM ones to replace the crappy ones with... only thing is... the "crappy" doubled ones
are still on there, and they seem good every time I check them...

If my memory serves me right the bolts I put in I got from Lowes should be a 5.5 size. Can't remember the lenght.

Warlock, I think that is a great idea......i am going to copy it someday when I dont trust the caps that are on there now.  Can I ask why use fingernail polish instead of blue locktite?

I replaced mine with the bolts and brass washers. ACE Hardware had what I needed. The original nipples and caps are in a bag under the seat in case I need them on a trip for carb repair.

A lot cheaper and the holding stength about the same. I usually go to the dollar store and buy a couple bottles. Of course no sub for the high stength.
