You asked for the best, and by that I assume you mean most comfortable to sit on for very long periods of time without discomfort.

Russell Day Long. Put one on my BMW-GS and just put one on my Valkyrie, They'll build your seat any way you want it.  cooldude

Before you pump a lot of money into a seat, try a sheepskin pad or cover on you existing seat. AND if you do buy, don't get one without a drivers backrest. IMHO thesheepskin and backrest will do the most for your long distance comfort.

Russell Day Long...

+1426

Have had them all (or most)... stock, modified-stock, Mustang, Ultimate.... nothing compares to the Russell. I went from 300 miles (or less) till discomfort on all the others to 1500 miles with no discomfort on the Russell.

I have only experience with stock, Mustang and Ultimate.  Ultimate is my choice.  Day-longs are basically custom built and I have never heard a bad thing about them.  I wouldn't think of buying one used unless you are very similar to the original owner as to weight, build and how you ride.

I have friends who ride Russell Daylong and swear by them.  I don't particularly like them, but then I've never ridden one specifically made for my size.   I do think they're incredibly ugly.

If you want the best combination of comfort and appearance, Ultimate Seats is the way to go.  As an additional bonus, Ultimate is a VRCC sponsor and helps keep the lights on here.

Ultimate Seats

I have about 190,000 Valkyrie miles on Ultimate seats.  I'm very pleased with them.  I'm not, however, an average Valkyrie rider.  YMMV.

I personally like Corbins.  I really didn't have any luck with Mustang just wasn't comfortable for me.  The only Ultimate I have used is on my dads Interstate (which he switched to Corbin) and I liked my Corbin better.  It's all personal preference.  Just depends on how you are built and what's the best sitting position for you.

Unless someone has used a number of different ones, saying this one or that one is best doesn't mean much.

Me?  When I was young my stock Honda and then my stock Kawi seats were Jim-Dandy.  Now, on my VTX I couldn't stand the stock seat and got a Mustang.  It was better than stock, but that ain't saying much, and I was disappointed.  My Valk came with a beater Corbin, which was better then the Mustang.  I have since bought a newer, but still used Corbin, and it is better still.  But I couldn't tell you how it compares to an Ultimate, Day Long, etc.....

You left out oil and tire brands! angel

I really like my Mustang for looks and comfort.  Have a Corbin that also looks great on the Valk, but is good for about 30 min. of riding.  Lots of folks swear by their Ultimates.  Plus Ultimate gives you options for seating positions.  Hopefully they will be back at InZane this year, so I can try one out.

Here's a pic with the Corbin...

Man that's tough.  What others tell you is what works for them.  Butts are very personal as to what works for comfort.  I have personally had 4 seats - the original, which sucked in a half hour - '98 std.  Then I modified it by sculpting the foam, added a polymer pad, and had it recovered.  Wrote that up as a tech article, BTW. See http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/Rood_Saddle_Mod/rood_saddle_mod.html  That worked great for me - but I needed a back seat soln too.  As it turned out, I was sourcing group purchases for the VOA at the time, which got me a Mustang 4 piece set really cheap - so I sold the custom seat to pay for it.  The Mustang took several months to break in, but after that, I was good again - though not as good as the custom seat.  Then I solo'd the bike, and sold the Mustang 4-piece set to pay for an Ultimate Big Boy.  Nice looking seat, but never as good for me as the other 2.  I have butt trouble again, after 2 hours or so.  And I've had it for years, I'm thinking it will never get better for me.  Fortunately, I don't need long distance comfort anymore, as I only ride the Valk locally now.  The Wing gets the big miles.

I've never tried the Russell.  Really ugly - but if I needed long distance comfort I'd sell the Ultimate and get a Russell.

The only way to really tell without a long term and expensive trial & error period, is go for some long rides on borrowed seats.  Got local friends with Valks & different seats?  Fortunately any std or tourer seat can be swapped in seconds w/o tools.

I guess I've been very lucky - my '98 Tourer came with two seats, the stock seat, and the stock seat from a 2000 Tourer. I swapped the '98 seat out for the 2000 seat and have never looked back. haven't made any day long trips yet, but I just ordered a sheepskin from ALaska Leathers for it, so I should be good.

I have ridden many 900 mile days in a summer and never get uncomfortable on my ultimate. Have not ridden on a Rusell Day long so cannot comment. Since I like my ultimate so well and it fits me, I see no reason to try any other.

OK, I did the expensive trial and error method   uglystupid2  .  OEM  ???  , then Corbin 4 pc set  tickedoff, then Mustang   Angry  , then Ultimate Big Boy 4 pc   Lips Sealed  , then got the Russell Day Long cooldude   I also had some input from SugarPlum sitting in rear, which confirmed my decision  Roll Eyes .  I'd have saved $$$ by getting the Russell the first time I thought about it, but thought it too much to spend on a seat.  Shocked    Finally decided it made no sense to have a bike that was too uncomfortable to ride more than a couple of hours at a time  crazy2 .  No looking back now.   coolsmiley

Just to throw in another choice.
I have ridden the Diamond Seats for many years. They are custom build to your height, weight and iinseam.
I have a second I/S and needed to get another seat for it. Pricing out a new 3 piece Diamond and a 3 piece Ultimate King Big Bow. The Ultimate was $830 +or-, The Diamond was $685. I went with the Ultimate because everyone likes them so well and I rode up to their showroom in Ormond Beach. I have only put 300 miles on it, but I would say that the Diamond is more comfortable. For the price, I would go with the Diamond.

You've got another 700 miles to go before the Ultimate is broken in.  When I got mine it was hard as rock then one day I sat down and felt my butt sink into it.  After that it has been heaven.
