Another 2002 black and red currently on e-bay. I find it interesting whenever I find one of these rare Valks the last three VI numbers are very close to mine. This one is 165, mine is 163, the last 2002 black/red on e-bay was 161, IIRC.

Anybody own one of these? Anybody ever actually see one?  ???

Anybody ever actually see one?

There was one at the 2nd Johnson City InZane... we didn't believe it was OEM until one of us
noticed that the pinstripe was one of those OEM decals...

Well, they were made in lots of 20 the same at a time.  So, whatever color you are looking at, 20 were done at the same time.  That is why they are so close in VIN.

I believe so far there are at least 2 runs of 20 each ID'd, there may be more.

There was one at Inzane 9... mine. I had just bought the bike 30 days before, just enough time to do all the maintenance and give it a good looking over. Inzane 9 was my first ride of any distance with the Valk, learned a few things. Things like...don't do any high speed testing across Utah if you don't know where the next fuel stop is located. Reserve at 85 miles...oh crap! Glad I had that extra gallon in the saddlebag!

vin is 200, I'm in the process of adding bags and trunk.  Waiting on the bags back from paint.  if your 161 then must of made another 20 in my vin range.  That would make at least 40.  This site agrees.

http://www.valkyrienorway.com/Production%20By%20Color.html

but mine is opposite of the picture on that web page, black side and red strip.

Since they only made 600 for the states in that year, that makes it pretty rare.

The VINs that I know of are 161, mine is 163, and the current e-bay Valk 165 and yours 200.
What paint scheme did you use for the bags, did you add the stripe?

I read somewhere they produced them for an AARP reunion and anniversary. Pretty bike, but they detuned them 15 hp so the old folks would not get hurt on them. Stay safe and to the right, Redline.

The added color on the 2002 is a racing stripe. A fast black + a red racing stripe = faster black. cooldude

What's the color code for the Honda red? Think I'll get mine painted to match the scheme/combo. The black with red stripe makes for a classy combination. I've never seen one except for pix posted here. sheets

What's the color code for the Honda red?

I should know that, just had the bags painted, I'll look at the tag on the Valk again and let you know. I think the red is the same as used on the black and red Interstates. My bags are from a b/r IS and the red looked the same to me.

I'll check the paint code when I get home this evening.

Curious, where did you find that information? Is your 200 VIN a California bike? The 160 VIN bikes are not.

Width - space - width of pin stripe?

The Blue w/white stripe is perty cool too! I've only seen one of those up close.

The stripes are tapered. Overall width front to rear, front fender 4 3/8 to 5 1/4, tank 6 1/4 to 5 1/2, rear fender 5 5/8 to 5 3/8. I made the stripe on my bags straight at 6 1/2.

The pin stripe width is 1/8, the space is 3/16. I don't know how carefully these stripes were laid out, each bike maybe different but that's what mine measures.
