Ouch is right!  Did you notice the smoke from the rider's locked rear tire?  Looks like the driver behind them wasn't paying attention.  Good a few other were, and stopped.  Any update on the rider's condition?

That POS just kept on comin........ and post-impact kept on goin.  Broad daylight, clear and dry and heavy traffic.  If a cell phone or text involved.......... summary execution over against the wall.

The following car was absolutley in the wrong.

From the smoke off the bikes tire dare I assume he was overly rear braking? And not checking his rear.

Tough lessons to learn in this way.

I think he was lucky.  Looked like it threw him up and over the hood.  Otherwise, he would have been inbetween the two cars.  Not paying attention behind.  Again.

This time it was not not seeing a MC.  He hit the car in front too.

Found the news article about the video:

http://www.dallasnews.com/news/transportation/20110425-scoop-blog-dramatic-video-shows-rear-end-collision-hurling-motorcyclist-into-dallas-north-tollway-traffic.ece

From above linked article:

Quote
"I'm all right," the motorcyclist, 25-year-old Zacharie Perez, said in an interview. "I guess I was pretty fortunate."

Perez, who was in Parkland Memorial Hospital for five days after the crash, lost his spleen - it had to be removed because it ruptured. He fractured a rib and four vertebrae. He has torn muscles and may need further surgery to repair a hernia.

Okay, just finished reading the article, and now my blood's boiling...

Quote
The driver of the car that hit him, he says, had no driver's license and no insurance. He received multiple citations, including one for failure to control his vehicle's speed, but he wasn't arrested.

Perez said he'd passed the car earlier and saw its occupants "dancing in their seats, acting like fools."

Bold my highlight. What do you hafta do to get arrested???

Going to his house, and rendering his car permanently inoperable would probably do it.

Nonetheless, this sounds like a worthy project.

It's a miracle he wasn't run over by the offending car.

Time was in texas if you looked at the leos wrong they'd slap the cuffs on ya. Now we have video proof of the sobs wrong doing and no TICKET. What in the hell is wrong with this picture?? Am i missing something here or is the world in general goin to you know where in a handbasket?? Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside-long as i stay off my m/c. I think not!! At the VERY LEAST the cage driver ought to do jail time and not be able to drive again EVER. Oh what am i thinking-the wothless p o s didn't have a licsense to begin with. And no insurance. Here in mo you have to have all your ducks lined up before you can get tags here-current inspection current drivers licsense and current insurance. Well at least the m/c rider is gonna get better. That in and of itself is something-i guess. O-k friends and neighbors-rant over-for now. tickedoff RIDE SAFE.

but...........how many times have "we" saw someone acting stupid behind the wheel
and MADE SURE we got as far away as possible.

not saying the biker was at fault, but, he said he saw them "acting like fools"

wouldn't you remember that and try to get as far away as possible (another lane....something) Undecided

still a sad commentary on responsibility

ok flame away cooldude

Did not say he didn't get a ticket, said he was not arrested.  Almost certainly given multiple violations, but allowed to appear in court on own recognizance.  Jail should still be a possibility, just not instant jail.

If this guy was unlicensed and uninsured, he could not be allowed drive from the scene, and the car should have been impounded.

 Angry Angry

Good reason to have uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance.  Lots of unlicensed/uninsured drivers around here also.  the guy seems very luck not to have been hurt worse.  it looks like the car drove right up on top of his back wheel.

Found the news article about the video:

I read the clip.  I'm glad he's okay (after significant injuries).  I too wonder why someone didn't leave the scene in cuffs.

Quote
"Everyone who's seen the video says I was lucky," he says. "My fiancé's mother said everyone she knows who's been involved in a motorcycle accident is either dead or paralyzed."

Someone doesn't get out much.

Quote
It's unlikely that it will be replaced.

He says that when he broached the subject of riding again with his fiancé, her response was: "That's not gonna happen anymore."

Poor boy's not even married yet and he's already whipped . He needs to unhook rapidly from those two women.   Shocked  Apparently on the Dallas toll road isn't the only place he's been run over.

Yup, I agree with ya, Willow.  Before I married my wonderful wife I told her that the motorcycle was here before she was....
Seriously, though, she has never, ever, ever, ever, asked me to quit riding.  In fact, I remember her saying "if you sell it, I will kill you."
Can't argue with that.

On the subject of the accident, I am glad the rider is more or less ok.  At least he isn't dead, which is more permanent.

Typical day in Dallas traffic.  You gotta' have eyes in the back of your helmet!  Used to ride on that tollway a lot, was nearly hit multiple times going back and forth to CompUSA HQ from Arlington.  Thankfully, not anymore.  Glad the rider survived and recovered.

Driver that hit him got 3 tickets.  Driving without a license, No insurance and one more, probably following to close.
