Don't threaten me with a good time

Greeneville, TN

« on: April 26, 2011, 07:24:11 PM »

It has been a year since my Aunt and Uncle infected me with a Valkyrie disorder. Last year in March I was in an accident from my own stupidity. My baby at the time (2006 Honda CBR 600rr) was totaled after I tried my Evil Knievel stunt of riding a wheelie like an idiot. No helmet, but I was wearing an Alpinestar armored jacket and gloves. Luckily I sustained 3 stitches above my eye, road rash, and a broken ego.

After a good lesson learned, My Insurance came through and I was on the look for another bike. After many PBR's with the Uncle, I started looking for a Valkyrie. With luck, a blue and cream standard came on Ebay in the St. Louis area. The owner at the time was a Navy veteran as I was. We talked for hours about our active duty history and I totally was side tracked about purchasing the bike  uglystupid2 . At the time I struck a pretty good deal with the gentleman and was the new owner of a Valkyrie.

the day I brought it home

Today, It is strange but I'm glad I ate the pavement last March. If I hadn't wrecked most likely I would have never owned a Valk. Most of all I would have have never met so many kick ass people in the VRCC. I'm truly a believer that things happen for a reason.

The Valk is just as capable (if not more) of kicking your ass. Treat her with respect and you will both have smiles for miles.  cooldude

God was ridin with you compadre. Use the skid lid-they are cheaper than your head!! Dumped my 73 cb 500 honda out of a friends driveway. Just rode 30 miles from work with the lid-i'm half a mile from lacasa-put the lid on the sissy bar right turn out of drive way into a left sweeper(pop quiz what won't a honda side stand do when left down in a left sweeper??) ya you got it-won't come back up when contacting the pavement-but will with much glee highside your sorry a$$ before you can say oops. The lid passed me as i was going down!! Since that day i am and have been an avid helmet enthusiast. I don't leave home without it. B T W ex navy airedale 1964 1968 not quite 2 tours off of nam. I still am not fond of the Skid Lid, but I wear one more frequently. I've learned some people don't get a second chance. U.S.S. Harry S Truman Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Fuels) 2005-2009

Just remember the old Honda ad line from their off road divison. " Stupid Hurts"     Its always easier to walk away from an incident if your head is still in the shape of a head.... Good luck and welcome to the family cooldude
