My 99 tourer is running poorly since I got it painted. It idls smoothly, but when I accellerate at low or medium throttle, it has a steady solid miss, like a spark plug wire is off. At haqrd throttle, it feels "good" but that could be from all thos cylinders covering up for one delinquent one. In neutral, at 2000+ rpm held steady, it pops and sputters lightly and randomly. ll the wires are on, compression is normal. I have the ragner cut with truck stacks. Fuel hoses are secure. Could I have a vacuum hose off? where are the likely hose culprits? I know this is a lot of questions, But I have put you guys to the test before, and you ALWAYS come through. So here is something to motivate you. Whoever provides me with the winning solution will get a pristine set of Tank badges (I repainted dont need them anymore). I will even pay shipping. Peace Valkerites!

Has the bike been desmogged? If not, there's a good chance you might have a hose off or cracked. Get an inspection mirror and look behind the carbs, you'll see some hoses about the size of windshield washer hose. If one is off, it will be obvious. If cracked, may take some time to pin down which one.

Along with the above, I'd consider running some Techron through the gas. Dump the whole bottle in along with just a couple gallons of gas, run until you're certain the mixture is now in the carb bowls, then shut it off and let it sit overnight. Next day, take it out and run it at low rpm for extended periods.

PS: don't need the badges in any case.  cooldude
