Went out for a ride today up into the mtns. i live in an interesting area. Next to Palm Springs where I work. Lots of resorts, nice restaurants. You can take off and be in very rural, isolated areas quickly. Big changes in terrain. But we are only 120 mi from LA so lots of $$$ here also.
As I am heading out of town up to mtns on 4 lane road with center divider, little traffic, me in the inside lane, I come up to stop light, one car in front of me with a new Ferrari (no tags yet) up front in the right hand lane. I'm in his blind spot and rev the engine (with Cobra 6x6) as I pull up. I can see him looking in rear view mirror but can't see me and he looks over to car on left to see where sound is from and still doesn't see me.
When the light changes he takes off quickly and I go around the car in front of me and into his mirror where he sees me coming up. As we pull up to the next light he revs his engine a few times and it sounds so much like the Valkyrie with Cobras.

He also gives me the "thumbs up". I think he is showing respect for my bike (but maybe acknowledging a challenge that I did not give). When the light changes, and we can both see the yellow-red from crossing lanes, we both take off fast.
After about 1/2 way through first I go WOT and concentrate on shifting smoothly at 7000 rpm. I was to 100 mph in what seemed like an instant with the Ferrari pulling away and about 10 - 15 car lengths ahead of me. The Ferrrari and I both backed off about the same time. When can anyone of you recall a cage pulling away from a Valk at WOT??
I don't think the old girl felt bad about having another vehicle leave her in the dust. The aged lady was happy to run with a thoroughbred.
I got home and looked up the model and it was the 2011 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. Lots of $$$ but a beautiful machine. Happy to be able to ride along with it for a bit.
Disclaimer: i don't think people should be racing on streets or driving unsafely, but what fun to go with the Ferrari.
