So I pull up behind a pickup tonight (daytime) and thought, that's strange, the sun is behind me, why would I see reflection of my blinker?
Turns out that the left blinker is on (like a running light) but the blinker functions. All the other blinkers are not lit up.
My question is:
Does the Valk have running lights when the key is on (blinkers partially lit)? Or is something funky going on?
If there are running lights, any idea where to start looking if just the left front works?

Stock = running lights & turn signals in front; only turn signals in back. If only one is lit all the time in front, you've got a partial bulb burnout on the other side.

I would like to add more running lights on the back of 97 standard without attaching something to my leatherlyke bags. Was thinking about installing front turn signal assemblies back there, they appear to be same size where all that's needed is to switch out the bulb holder to accommodate the two filament bulb. This way keeping spare bulbs around the garage is simple. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I ran the running light wires to the license plate light wire and tapped into it. Then you need to have red lenses. I replaced min with Kury red lenses. You can also get a can of Testors Candy Apple Red Clear model paint in the toy section at Wally World and spray a couple of coats on the inside surface. Marty

So the back of the bike has to have red running lights verses the amber up front? I appreciate the link for the LED conversion too. It seems that I will now end up with my front OEM's to try on the rear as I have just won an e-bay auction for a front light bar. Both of these answers will give me something to think over. Thanks guys.

My guess is that it's a safety thing: Steady amber lights means the vehicle is approaching you; steady red lights means it's going the same direction as you.

Depending on the temps in the daytime, running 1157 bulbs in back all the time in stock (front) light pods, installed in back, and shielded from the wind by bags will eventually melt the plastic inside the pods and the lights will fall out. I melted 4 of them this way. Then I installed a night circuit, and ran them only at night. Problem solved. Later I installed LED arrays instead of filiment bulbs, which put out no heat - that would solve the problem as well. BTW - you only need the additional visibility at night, so the switched "night circuit" is a good soln. But you can also buy 1157 socketed red LED arrays - then install clear lenses - another good soln. There's an outfit that sells such arrays and clear lenses - google "clear alternatives" you'll find it. You can also set it up to run the rear corner lights as run, brake, and turn with only a little more effort and two $5 relays. I've written up all this stuff on my tech tips pages. I will check with the local inspection station here.

CLEAR LENS ARE FINE AS LONG AS THE BULBS ARE THE CORRECT COLOR.
