Yep, Avon has a 200 series. Very pricey when I was shopping $220 if I remember correctly as compared to $180 for the stock 180. I went darkside 205 GTTT for $108. Mounting/balancing was the same for all three at $35.

Just bought an Avon Cobra front tire from Jake Wilson (free shipping) at $173 plus there is a $25 rebate on one tire, $50 rebate for 2 tires through May 15th from Avon.

They have that rear tire you are looking for at $191, free shipping.

I am also a darksider so looks like I can go another 10K on my 205-60-16 Goodyear Triple-Tred that has 32K on it.

That is a great tire to ride on, Oss, but it don't last a long time.  Got 9K out of one, I liked it, though. I put on a new tire when I got back from Lacross last year.  Hoser

Bridgestone sells a tire called the Exedra, they make one that is specifically designed for the Valkyire. And advertise it as such.

Kinda of well kept secret, Dennis Kirk sells the 702 Exedra Bridgestone for 143$ and so far after 1500 miles is

the best riding, smoothest wearing tire(No Cupping and I ride extra agrressive ask anyone) I have tried on any of the Valkyries I have owned.

Of course I should mention it is the rear tire I bought, and the rear is one the Valkyrie beats up the most.

It is going to be a winner, I would buy another in a heartbeat.

But then again I could be wrong.

Any more word or insight on a 200 series m/c tire?  Is there any worry about needing a z rated tire so there will be less flex and therefore less chance of rubbing the drive shaft.  I heard that Bridgestone was the best 200 series but have been using Avons most recently... (only got about 10k on each of the last 2 rears). So I am open to change!!

I'm between the 200 series Avon or the 200 series Brdgestone both shown here:

They both seem like well made good traction tires, but it does seem like for 20 bucks more on the Avon will get you more miles.  Any thoughts?

incase anybody down else was looking into the 200 series rear tire I went with the bridgestone and it fit fine. it wasn't too easy to get on you had to angle it and work it in but once it was all hooked up the tire had about a quarter inch from the driveshaft.  It is about .75" wider and 1.5" taller than my previous Avon tire, I think it was a 180/55

i have avons front and back, i've noticed (lately) that when i'm turning, and twisting the throttle hard, it feels as if the tire's going flat.  almost as if it's sliding out from under me.  last few sets of tires i had were dunlops, so i'm wondering if these avons are "softer" or something.  air presure is at 40psi.  any idea's??

Is it not true that all 200 tires have less tread depth than the same make/model tire in a 180?

If they do not last as long as the corresponding 180, I see no reason to run them.

I have Avon Cobras front and back and really like them.  180 /70R on back and 150/80R on front.  Is there any reason to run a 200 on back other than looks??  how does it affect the handling in turns, acceleration and braking.  Does increasing width decrease ease of leaning over in turn??

There is some real research out there that covers benefits of a wider contact area, in reality is is more complicated than just giving your vehicle more contact area as it involves weight of vehicle and psi among other variables.  There are also plenty of people that think the original engineers were geniuses and deduced that the tire they put on your vehicle, aka valk, is the best and only choice to ever use...  I wanted a beefier looking rear, and am replacing the rear fender to be more minimalist so I want it to hug over a slightly larger tire.  AND I wanted the wider increase my traction aspect. I have not had an opportunity to try it out yet as my rebuild of the Valk is slow and expensive but here is a picture of the 200 series on the bike ( http://www.directlineparts.com/byBrand.asp?brd=Bridgestone&str=2 ).  Which was cheaper than my last avon venom 180 series

This question was asked twice in the past few months and got mixed answers.  The question you may consider asking is what tire can be mounted without modifications as mounting anything wider than stock may require some modifications. Check past posts for answers as they varied.

If you can go test ride a Victory Hammer.  It has a wide rear tire.  When I test rode one several years ago, I found it rather difficult to get leaned over when going around normal street corners.  The magazines that tested it noticed the same.  Also when you pour a few beers into one of them dark side guys and they let their guard down, they do admit to the same.

Tommy, for these multiple long runs you do have you thought about uisng a car tire. It could save you a lot of $$$

I put one on my Valkyrie when I rode round trip from Atlanta to the Canadian Rockies with a weeks riding around Sturgis included. Knowing I could get there and back on the one rear tire was peace of mind.

There is really not a heck of a big difference between a 180 or 200 Venom, Metz, Bridgestone.  (does the E3 even come in a 200 for Valk?). Accordingly, there is not really any significant difference in ride or handling between a 180 or 200.

There is no modification required to run a 200. (unless maybe you got a really crooked build at the factory or the bike has been hit and bent in back).

I still believe the 200s all have less tread depth than the corresponding (same make/model) 180... I could be wrong.  And a 180 and 200 may get about the same miles, even if tread depth is a bit different, but I think less depth means less miles.

And, because you are putting a 200 on a wheel made for a 180, even though it handles the 200 fine, do not assume you are getting a full 20 millimeters (or whatever) extra contact patch.  The bigger tire is squeezed on the wheel more than the 180, and bellies out a bit in the center, losing you some of the patch from the bigger tire.  You do get some additional contact patch.

I have read of a number of guys running a Bridgestone (Battleaxe?) 200 and really liking the performance and miles are average... many with a venom or metz front tire.
