We've turned off our heat again, because it was 70 all weekend. We opened the doors and let the sunshine in. We had a great weekend, didn't do any riding, but we did have some family and friends over.
Now, is time to get back to work. The house was a little chilly this morning, but it was comfortable. The temp was just over 40 degrees outside when I checked, but the forcast is calling for it to go up to 70+. It is time to ride that fall temp swing and enjoy the variety of glove shuffling that it takes to stay comfortable this time of year.
The ride in this morning was nice. After I dealt with my 8:00 I wish I had just kept riding. Oh well. I have a lot of day left before it is over. I'll catch my second wind, probably about the time I hop on the bike to ride to lunch.

I rode in to work today. With morning temps in the upper 40's, it was a really nice 8-mile commute.
I also got in a few miles yesterday...about 140 or so. I skipped out on the Steeler game (didn't miss much) and went for a nice 3-hour tour thru Greene County, PA. I took 18 south out of Washington, cut across this little back road towards Graysville, and ended up on 21 west. I went to Ryerson Station State Park to check out what used to be a big lake. A few years ago, the dam started moving and leaking, suspected due to mine subsidence, although the mining company denies undermining the area. So they had to take out a section of the dam to prevent catastrophic danger to those downsteam, so now what used to be a lake is now just an overgrown weedy mess with a little creek running thru it. It's really a disaster and sad to see. Anyways, I then continued on 21 west into WV and took 250 south to Hundred, WV. This stretch of 250 is a great motorcycle road with lots of peg-dragging corners, hills, and all-around fun. I had a couple cars in front of me for the first part, so that kind of sucked. But then they turned off and I was free to run the rest of it. It was a blast. I got gas in Hundred, and took 69 north. Once it crosses back into PA, 69 becomes 18, which I rode all the way back to Washington, PA...and then I took 136 home. 3 hours, 140 miles...it was a nice break to clear the mind...I needed that!

Low 50's for the ride in, high 40's for the ride home, looks to get gradually warmer all week. Can't stop smiling!

It's a nice day out...but no bike for me today. I'll probably have to pick my 4 year old up from pre-school at lunch time because my wife has a meeting at my step-daughter's school. And as much as I can't wait until she can ride with me, she's still a bit too small, yet. I did tease her though about how I hoped she had her helmet ready (she doesn't have one) for when I pick her up. Later she brought me a piece of paper and wanted me to draw a motorcycle on it. So I did...then she wrote the word "NO" on it and proceeded to wave it in my face saying "No bike, Daddy...No bike!" It was pretty cute. I can't figure her out though...just the other day she was begging me to take her for a ride around the yard, which I've done before and she loves it. She's usually mad when we stop. So I figured she would be excited for me to pick her up on the bike. But she knows that she's not big enough to ride on the road yet...and she knows her mom would just about killed me if I tried to pull that stunt. As a side note, I did roll the odometer past 40,000 miles last night on the way home from work, which was a goal of mine at the beginning of the year. It might not sound like much for a 1999, but I didn't buy the bike until late 2001 with less than 400 miles on it, and didn't ride much the first couple of years due to losing my little brother in a bike accident in 2002. According to my records, I only had about 5000 miles on the bike by the end of 2003. So since then, I've put 35,000 on in the past 6 years for an average of just shy of 6000 per year. Not bad considering I live in an area where we have to "winterize" for a few months a year, and considering I hit a deer in 2006 and missed a a couple months of prime riding weather, and 2008 when I was working so much overtime that I didn't have time to change out my rear tire for a couple months which had threads showing so I couldn't ride. I have 7000 mile so far this year since March (8000 since October last year) plus about another 1000 on my dad's Wing. So, 8000 bike miles this year, which is a tie for my most bike miles in a year...and with this mid-November weather hanging in the 50's, I'm still riding. Thanks to the B/G ride and the CBR, each one being 1000+ mile weekends, it's been a pretty good year for motorcycling for me. I hope to beat it next year.

The air was warm, and only slightly damp between rain showers, as I came home the long way through the darkness after leaving work. The bike quietly rolled 79,000 miles as I hummed through the dark night. Not the highest mileage valk, but I sure have enjoyed rackin' these 69,000 miles up. Only 240,000 more miles to reach my goal. For now, I'm just enjoying the ride. Commute to ride, ride to commute.

YEEHAW, the first time I was on a bike in four days. I was busy working all weekend and cold cold rain Monday and Tuesday. The ride in and home was just what the doctor ordered. I took the long way home.

Glad you got a ride in, Raymond, today makes 3 for 3! Tomorrow I get to pick up the Majesty and take her to work & back home. I know it's not a Valk, but it sure is fun to swoop on two wheels for a change, plus I get double the mileage. Friday may be a washout here. Ride safe!

Rode in today. Pretty mild at 45* this morning, but not much warmer at lunch. Still the sun is shining and it was a great short ride at lunch. Sometimes I need the mid-day stress relief!!

I was having a three campus day where I go all over the county, but having forgotten a book I had to go back after work to the beginning and pick it up. I need the book this morning to start the day.
Last night, at about 9:00, I came home in a thick fog. It was a comfortable slow ride, but when the fog broke--or when I rode out of it--it was a beautiful night.

It had to happen sometimes. Two days a week I go one direction. Three days a week I go another. This morning I was running late and heading for a gas station, and was nearly there when I realized I was heading to the wrong gas station, because I was heading the wrong direction. So I hopped for the best and hung a left, away from gas, trying to make a short cut to where I was supposed to be. I made it, but on fumes. Lukcily if I can make it out of the parking lot I can make it to the gas station across the street.
It is a beautiful day. I think it is going to be 60 today. The fog burned off as I was riding in. The sun is out. And I...have work to do inside on the computer. Dangit.
This evening I'll be going to watch a little Friday night Shakespeare, then I get to ride home on what is promising to be a clear dark warm evening.
Commute to ride, ride to commute (hopefully in the right direction).

Thanks for the info, Willow, hope Rhonda is doing better & Raymond gets out to ride soon. It was pouring as I got suited up to ride to work this morning, but by the time I was ready to leave, it had pretty much stopped. That was fine, but the puddle in front of the garage at the bottom of the driveway took tossing about 100 snow shovels full of water to drain. In Frogg Toggs & a full face helmet, close to 60 degrees. Talk about fogging up the face shield. Put the raingear back in the pouch at work, but ended up wearing it for the ride home, 49 degrees is a little too cool for a lightweight leather jacket & kevlar jeans. I think I rode every day this week, but I can't remember. Pleasant dreams, let's do it again next week!

Rode in today. 41 on the way in at 5:30 am and real foggy. Rode fairly slow as the forrest rats are out because of deer season here in Michigan. Only 18 miles in. For some reason it was 42 miles back home. Oh well, likely the last ride for the year, unless global warming kicks in.

The forecast for today was drizzle, but it is also a good description of what my mood is so far. Drizzle. I managed to stay dry-ish on the ride in. I managed to luck out and miss most of the drizzle, but the bike was plowing through road drizzle most of the way so it still needs a bath. When I got to work I had to fight the copy machine. I managed to cut myself somewhere inside the copy machine. Although I did get the handouts done. Attendance was low at 8:00. Just a drizzly day before we get out for holiday break. It'll be okay, just drizzle overall. In a little while I can ride in the drizzle to the next campus and see what is drizzling there too.
________________________ The drizzling stopped, so I went out for a long lunch. I puttered a few hours from store to store not really going anywhere. I did about 80 miles. I didn't want to get to far from where I needed to wind up, because I didn't want to forget to come back.
Now, I'm back inside the bunker that is the building where my shared office is at. The heat is pumping, and it is causing me to have a headache.
This will be my last day commuting this week, and probably will be my last day on the bike. Tomorrow I will take my wife to the dentist to have a wisdom tooth removed. Then I'll sit with her for the day. I suppose I will still be going to work tomorrow evening to do the night class (my in-laws will be relieving me watching my wife). Otherwise, this will be it.
This semester is winding up, so I'll have a month off where I won't be commuting at all soon.

Even though I was off last Friday, I had to run to the office to get some papers. So I rode to work...even if it wasn't to work. Didn't get much in over the weekend...couple errands here and there is all. And then today I rode to work. I don't know the temp, but it was cold. The grass was all frosty and crunchy on my walk out to the garage. But with my big ski parka and heavy gloves, it was tolerable for the short 8-mile commute. They are calling for a high in the low 50's today, so it should be a nice ride home later at lunch time and at the end of the day. I just hope that slim chance for a passing sprinkle doesn't materialize this evening. From the looks of things, the weather is going to be turning for the worse around here towards the end of the week. So decent riding weather will be getting more and more rare. But what the heck...it is almost December after all.

It must've been a good day to ride. I met six two wheeled vehicles before even I cleared my hometown.
This will be the only time I'll come into the office this week, so you all enjoy your commutes and have a great Thanksgiving weekend.

2 for 2 this week...not bad for late November here in PA. It did get a little moist on my ride home yesterday...but never really rained. It was more just like a mist with a little drop here and there. I didn't even put on the rain gear. This morning, everything is wet, but it's not raining. So I took the bike. It actually felt pretty warm, too. With the holiday, tomorrow is the last day of the work-week for me. They are calling for rain, but we shall see. It would be nice to go 3 for 3.
