It was 33 on the way in, and 31  coming home. Saw several places where the freeze/melt was encroaching on the road. Next week looks good. Don't mind the cold, but the frozen spots coming up suddenly after dark makes for an invigorating ride. Supposed to be low 20's tomorrow, cage looks good to me...

I work 2nd shift and it was 40 and sunny when I left the house this afternoon.  Just walked in the door and the thermometer reading was 27 degrees.  Great ride home, not a cloud in the sky and the stars were out!

Today was optional. I didn't have to be anywhere. They were having a meeting about policies and procedures that I was invited to attend but that wasn't required. I went to see what was going on.

I wanted to catch my department head and ask a few questions, I caught her, but we're rescheduling questions until next week. Oh well.

I did manage to get a free lunch out of the day, so it wasn't a total waste.

I took the longer way home and managed to spend more time on the road today to and fro than I actually did at work.  That makes today a fairly good day overall.

Today was an odd day. I didn't start my day until this afternoon.
I started the day by going to a job interview, and now I'm sitting around afterwards waiting to really go to work. I won't hear back from the committee for several days, but at the moment, it is business as usual.

A cowoker just asked me if I rode the bike to my job interview. Well, of course I did. I folded my dress jacket into a saddle bag with a few notes and handouts. I zipped and buttoned my leather jacket up over my shirt and tie.  This is just who I am.  Might as well be me. In the parking lot I switched from leather to suit jacket.

My coworker looked down and then complemented me on how well my riding boots look with a dressy outfit. Yup. That's the plan.

What an odd day.

YAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!  I rode today...for the first time in several days.  cooldude  Really, I could have ridden yesterday, but it was pretty wet out so I wimped out and took the Jeep.  But today, even though the weather man is calling for some light drizzle, when I stepped outside it wasn't raining.  So I took the bike.  Unfortunately, it was actually kind of misty out...you know...when you hold your hands out and don't feel any rain.  But as soon as you start riding/moving, you start getting that mist building up on the windshield and your knees.  Well, by the time I actually got to the office, it was officially "sprinkling".  Not enough to stop for the rain suit, but enough that it will take a little bit to dry out the fronts of my shins.  No biggie...I set behind a desk most of the day.  uglystupid2  It's about 45 out there now, but falling into the 30's by this evening when I get outta here.  I just hope it doesn't fall too far and start freezing...they are saying about 35-37 (depending on which channel I watch) by quittin' time.

What a beautiful day for a ride. I didn't see another bike at all on the roads. Where did all those posers go?

Yep, posers are down here to. There has been 1 other bike in the garage lately. When the weather is good, you'll find at least 15 or more. That just gives me more room for me to park how ever I feel like it.  crazy2

Funny thing this morning, my daughter asked me why I ride when it's cold out? It was 40, not so bad. I asked her, you like riding your horses don't ya, and even when the weather is bad you still run the rodeos, right? She just smiled, she understands.  cooldude

Weather has been really crappy for the last several weeks.  I haven't rode the Valk in about as many.  Today was supposed to be clear and it was in the mid 40's when I left this morning........about 50 for the ride home tonight.

Rode to work for the first time in a while.  Was dark when I rode in...and dark when I rode home.  Felt good.   Smiley

This poser finally got out this evening.

It's been so long I had to remind myself which side was the clutch.   Undecided

It was good to get some wind.   cooldude

Grin You'd need to add some wind to that temp to feel like Kansas.

It was 32F on the way in this morning.  I chose to close the visor on the flyway.  The zub worked nicely, but once or twice I wondered whether it might be time to break out the neck gator.  Wink

Did'nt ride to work, got home from work at 0700, and took a ride to meet the old guys (romeos) for lunch down by Lake Pomona.
112 mile round trip.  17degrees when I left, 38 when I got home.  Dozen or so of us old farts showed up, one came clear from Chanute, the rest from KC and Topeka area.   cooldude hoser

Didn't ride to work today, either, didn't get out of the teens all day with serious wind chill. I must not be in Kansas anymore. Heat wave of 28 tomorrow with not much wind. Expect to ride.

Yeah, the wind was purdy severe on my lunch ride, too.  Had long johns and jeans under my double lined tourmaster pants, wished I wasn't too cheep to spring for some heated riding toggs. Hoser

30 degrees this morning and I had one eye closed most of the way to work. 20 years of highway work completed and I have an open 3 lane 60 mph road for 8 miles across Wichita city central now, we can sleep and drive it now.  Shocked

When I lived in Wichita, Kellogg had intersections, there was one bypass, from the turnplke to the airport, and maple street was 2 lane and pretty much rural!  Gawd, I'm old!  tickedoff hoser

It was 11 when I went in with wind chill of -4, and a balmy 26 on the way  home. Gonna have to mount some Plexiglas shields on the crash bars to keep my feet warm. Other than that, it was great, but looks like the snow this weekend may keep me in the cage for a while.

Karen, Red Head socks and good boots will do better than Plexiglas shields.  Gerbing electrics will work, but they're a lot of trouble.

Wind chill means nothing to motorcycle riders as it tries to explain how the wind changes the feel of the temperature.  That's only meaningful if you're standing still.

I'm with you.  I haven't done two wheels in the snow since my S-90.  There was the 305 Super Hawk, but that wasn't really my choice.

Enjoy the wind.   cooldude

It was awesome riding my cr500 in the snow. I had to heat up the top end with Carolyn's hair
drier before I could get it cranked, though...

Thanks, Willow, my boots are good, what are Red Head socks? I had made some plexiglass shields for my old 74 CB 750K4 that clamped on the crash bars, and they were great. Got some extra Air Wing pieces lying around, and thought I would try doing something similar, but my feet are a lot further back on the Valk, so I could end up with the same draft just coming from a different direction. If we get the snow here it'll probably end my riding until the next thaw, the salt really can do a number on the underside of the trike. Ride safe, and enjoy whatever time we get this winter.

Thanks again Willow, I wear something similar, but they cost more that twice as much and are all synthetic. I ordered 3 pairs, and I also ordered the Arctic insulated boot covers. If they work, it's a lot  easier than fooling around with the plexiglas in an unheated garage. Thanks again, hoping for toasty feet!

No riding around here...for awhile at least.  Too much snow on the roads for a big heavy bike like the Valk.  Maybe if I had a small dual-sport or something...or if they ever legalize quads for the street.  I wonder how that Can-Am Spyder does in the snow???  laugh

24F on the ride in.  It's supposed to warm up to the high forties before the day is done.

I was waiting at a stoplight (why aren't they golights?) in Olathe trying to keep my breath off my glasses when I heard something behind me that sounded an awful lot like a V-twin.  The light turned green, my glasses cleared up, and I got a look behind me in the mirror.  Surely enough it was another two wheeler.  What are the chances?

At the next traffic light I made sure I was far enough to the left of the lane that he could see there was room for him next to me.  I was a fellow on a Sportster bundled and layered up just about the same as I was.  His bike, like mine, had no plexiglass on the front.  I'm thinking some of you gentlemen with the parked Valkyries are going to need to let up a bit on our Harley riding buddies.   Wink

I wore my medieval executioner disguise this morning.  I hadn't realized how little clearance there was at the chin of the full face helmet.  It actually rubbed with the addition of that small amount of padding at the chin.  I guess I'm lucky not to be Jay Leno.  Does he ever wear a full face?  ???

The road demon's tested me again today, I think it was broken furniture in the road. I missed it all so no biggie.

Today will be my last post in the RTW thread this year. I'm riding bitch in RHonda's car tommorrow and heading for warm weather for the Holidays.

See all you working riders in the biggest thread on the BBS (this one) next year.

I hope you all get lucky for Xmas.

Rode into work yesterday, as the weather in the DFW area was very nice.  $9 per day parking for an attended parking space tends to limit our trips on the bike.  There are unattended lots, but we prefer that Big Mama be where we left her when we get back to the lot.

We trudge on.

Smiley  Hot dog, reply #798. And what a day for a ride. Needed to make a trip to PC Beach to pick up some paper work and meet with my counter part folks down there. Excellant weather, lots of sunshine, mild temps, no bugs, and a few other bikes out and about down there. Stopped at Dusty's on the way out and had a couple sit next to me at the bar. He had on HD gear and asked about the Valk. Even pronounced it correct. Seems he had looked for a decent Interstate before buying an Ultra Classic. Says since selling out his share of his DC business a few years ago he has made a total of 17 cross country trips. And he looked to be under 50. And he bought a 98 Standard, with 21k miles, last year from a 71 year old gent. BTW, he was a DC lobbyist who fought against the predatory lending that has led to the downfall of many banks.
