Last night after a few miles my Kuryakyn LED meter dropped into the yellow and red zone, as I continued a few more miles it dropped to 1 yellow LED plus the red but started flashing too. At my AA meeting I let it sit for almost 2 hours. Fingers crossed it started, seemed to be OK, meter was showing charge into the "green" zone & my lights were back to brilliant.
After a couple miles though the lights dimmed & the meter started doing the yellow & red zone dance again. I prayed i would make it home & she got me there, about a 20 min. ride.
I recharged the battery, only 2 yrs old. (Tender now green). I snooped through archives just now & wiil go check the fuse, grounds, etc.
Something tells me I'm in trouble though, I can't see why the charge would come and go like that. I'll report back later.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ps I did the Alt maintenance, replacing the brushes at 40,000. I only have 21,000 on the new brushes. (61,000 now - 01 Valk standard)

I had the same problem. It was the volt meter. I have since put on a Motosens volt meter. No more problem.

Toss that firkin meter ya got.    It is junk.   I got one laying here in my garage that acted the same way.  Took it off, and that alternator that supposedly was going South, is still there 30,000 miles later...........
