I know that the fluishness that I've been dealing with is only a temporary thing, but I do hate being sick. It should remind me how lucky am I to be healthy most of the time. I am fortunate. Today I'm bored.

I was feeling under the weather before I headed up to PA to interview with the department head in the doctoral program that I'm entering this summer.  I struggled through that. It has only gotten worse sense I came back home. I've been out sick for the past few days. When I can get my temp regulated I will go back to dealing with the public.

Today is frustrating because I feel great, but my temp is going up and down and my cough still hurts my chest like a mule kick. Being sick is easier when you don't feel well.  When you don't feel sick it is even harder to remind yourself that you are.

This might be a stupid question....but does that mean you'll be
moving north...at least for a little while? What will NC do
without you!??!

Mid may I'll be moving up to Indiana, PA. I had hoped and planned to move up earlier in May, but I did not get one fo the seminars that I wanted this year.  I'll be spending 11 weeks there. 9 weeks of that I'll be in a second floor apartment with great windows in the downtown just a few minutes walk from campus. The last 2 I will be schleping into a dorm. I'll move back to NC the first of August.
I'll summer away from NC for the first time in my life.
I'm going to move up on the bike. My wife will move up behind me a few weeks later in the volvo with the tv and a few other things that won't fit in the saddle bags
I've moved four times in my life and have always been on the same street, so it will be good to move away from NC for a little bit.

I'm glad I'm getting my semi-annual fluish crud out of the way here in the land of sweet tea and mom's potatoe soup.

I haven't been on the bike for a week! That's a long time for me. Thur-Sat last week I spent in a Volvo, Sunday I spent with the inlaws pretending it was a holiday, and the rest of the week I was at home sick. So today, I finally got to ride.
My bike was covered in pollen, hitting reserve, and sounded funny when I cranked up. It took me a minute to realize my head is still stopped up. Everything sounds funny.
I drove her straight to the gas station and tanked her up. I also grabbed a drink and some cough drops for me for good measure.
Then a face full of fresh air until I got to work this morning.
I left early so that I wouldn't rush (reports of possible black ice, but I didn't see it) so here I sit.
Still sick, but still riding.
The ride did make me feel a lot better.

The ride home in the sunshine felt really good. Warm air blowing across my chest loosened up some phlegm. Nice. Icky nice.

When I got home my dad was shaking his head that I went from a sick bed to the back of a bike. He thinks I get my stubborness from mom's side of the family. She kept looking at his gold wing and saying she thought it was from his side of the family.
I don't know. It's a hard call.
Fresh air has to be good for you.                               I need to ride to find my voice tomorrow...
