Rode down a country road last night, bout 60mph for 5 miles.
Had to slow down for a small town, 40mph. Temp light
started flickering, but didn't stay on. Pulled over, turned her off.
Stood there for 2 minutes, turned her back on, no Temp light,
didn't come on again. What the...

Going to check out the cooling system today, also going to
check the manual, check out the sensor, wherever it is.

Any other ideas.

Trust me-i am not an expert on theses things. The only times i see the temp light is when i turn the key on to start or restart. On really warm/hot days i've heard/felt the fans come on. Is the coolant level good in the resivoir?? I know that's obivious but we tend to overlook the simple things. Let us know what you find out. Hope it's something simple and hopefully inexpensive. uglystupid2 RIDE SAFE.

You fail to indicate what Valkyrie you are discussing.

There have been some problems in that exact area with 99 and earlier Valkyrie's.

She's a '98 Tourer. Checked the coolant, good level, good colour.

I believe the temp sensor is on the rear-left side of the rad.
There's no disconnect there. Just did an oil change, rode her
a similar distance again, no temp light. What gives?

A friend suggested an 'air-lock' in the rad, which I may have
cleared by checking the coolant. Or maybe not.

Anyway, going to Port Dover tomorrow bright and early,
4 hours one way. Hope no problems.
