I need to replace the gasket/seal that goes under the gas cap.  I know you can't buy the part from Honda.  What material do you use to make your own?  Or is there an aftermarket one to be had?

I bought gasket material and made a ring that fit under the present rubber gasket.  What it did was make the thing thicker. Make sense?

HERE LET ME HELP:
1: apply viscous, non-hardening adhesive to the obverse of the seal augmentation apparatus at the 11:00, 13:00, 16:00 and 19:00 positions.

1.2: Mount device in required location

1.2.1: apply even pressure by engaging the articulated  storage security apparatus.  uglystupid2

Why didn't someone say that in the first place?

CHIEFY....you might want to try this, it worked for me several times, take some vasoline on you finger and rub it on, and all over the original gasket.  for me it seemed to renew the old gasket, and it went back to it's original condition.  just a thought...it did work for me.

I had the gas smell from my I/S and used vasoline on the gasket, it seem to help with the fume smells, but left a white powdery residual on the gasket surface. I wiped it off, since then I still smell gaseous fumes occasionally.

just about any petroleum based  gunk will swell the seal. BUT it will degrade the seal over time.
