Did you know that there are approx. 44 million hunters in America! I guess I didn't really realize just how many of us hunt. That is ALLOT of firearms out there in the public. Now consider just how many of these hunters have more than one firearm. Also consider how many people have one or more firearms that do not hunt and they are not counted in this survey.
What got me looking for this info was an email I received from a friend so I had to chek it out, below is the email.

The World's largest army... America 's hunters!
I had never thought about this....

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin.
Allow me to restate that number.
Over the last several months, Wisconsin 's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.
More men under arms than in Iran.
More than in France and Germany combined.
These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.
That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters,
All of whom have now returned home.
Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that
The hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.
The point?
America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.
*************************************************
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.
Food for thought when next we consider gun control.
You want my What ?

(Yes, I know there's some controversy as to if he really said this or not, but it's still a good quote either way)

I was on the fence about concealed carry the day before yesterday, then a felon with an AK-47 walked the halls of my school. I'll be taking the class this month with my wife.

The problem there is, you will NOT be allowed to cc there, in the school, where you needed it.

That depends on where you are going to school.

Last year got 16, this year just 4 so far. I have a couple friends that have commercial nursery operations, and the hogs cost them thousands every year, they are happy to get rid of them, season in Florida is almost all year. We butcher them and donate the meat to several organizations in the area. Any piglets, I give to a farmer by Dade city , he raises them on corn etc.

Yep, that what's the 2nd Admen is all about.  The founding fathers knew armed citizens would provide a huge army as well as not trusting government.

Been hunting since I was 16, there's nothing like it. even if i get skunked I don't care. The friendship, the sights, the smells, the stories you just can't beat it. When you take the shot and harvest the animal and stand over it you appreaciate what the lord(I'm not religious but if there's a creator he does good work). What a feeling.

Depends on where you hunt, here are the regs from my area.

On private property with landowner permission, wild pigs may be hunted year round using rifles, shotguns, crossbows, bows or pistols. There is no size or bag limit, and you may harvest either sex. Also, no hunting license is required.

On wildlife management areas (WMAs), hogs may be taken during most hunting seasons, except spring turkey. But, if it's during archery season, you must use a bow - during muzzleloading gun season, you can only use a muzzleloader. And, you do need a hunting license as well as management area permit and any other necessary permits to hunt wild pigs on WMAs - where on some, daily bag limits on wild pigs do apply, and on a few, there's even a minimum size limit on what you can take.

I too like the taste of wildgame.  But haven't hunted in 10 years.  Spent 23 years in WY.  Put 18 Elk in the freezer (only got skunked 1 year) along with more deer and Antelopes than I can remember.  Quit hunting because we didnt' need the extra meat, kids all left home.   Glad we still have a folks out there enjoying the harvesting of game.
