I am thinking of replacing my front speakers with a good upgrade. Has anyone had any luck finding an after-market speakers. I think they are amplified. So that would have to work as well.
Thanks

That's the method I used to install polk speakers.  501 marine model I think.  Been a while and they work great.

Polk DB 501 Marine Grade speakers. Cheapest I found were on Ebay. Got one set for $39  and the other for $49. from Polk Direct. Great improvement in sound.

Yep Polk Audio Db501 or Db401 they are listed as 2 different sizes but they actuall are the exact same size I have both sets side by side and they physically are the exact same. They specs on them say the Db501 is capable of 10hz lower frequency response range, no idea if that is real or not.

I am on my phone now so I can't copy the two informational links but if somebody can do it that would be great. First one is an actual link I think in the old tech archive, and in the actual link adress it says "angelfire" that is the only word in the adress I remember.

The other location for a few more pictures is close too my heart, since it's mine. If somebody could copy that post link up that also would be great. But you can search for Multi Point upgrade and maintenance. I will check back in a couple hours from my regular computer and post up the links if nobody gets to it.

There are actually a couple brands that make a proper size speaker and it is a huge pain in the ARSE to put any other size speakers in there using the stock location orientation one or keep them in the exact spot. I will get around to buying a spare set of the speaker panels and get a lowprowfile set of 5x7-6x8 I am fairly sure that a 6x9 won't fit at all.

Search is your friend on this forum but asking seems to work well also.

OK thanks to everyones response.
Do the Polk Audio Db501 sound better?
I love my valk, but once in awhile I want to crank the radio.
I also think it could use an amp.
Has anyone done that?

Yes a few have added an amp, still fighting my cruise/amplifier install under the fairing have had them mounted in there a couple different ways and have not found the way that makes me proud to show it off here but I think it will be all figured out in the next few days. I will post up pictures and hopefully measurements sometime next week.

As far as the DB501's fitting in the rear,,, yes they will fit but you will need to trim the inside of the arm rests a bit go slow and only take a little off at a time. There are pictures and instructions around somewhere hopefully somebody will share that link for you.
