Got the company name from our vendors list and called them.. Found out I knew Darrell and talked for a while.  He sent it out quick for a good price!

Got it and was really impressed with the design and look.  Simple to put in.  Half hour to remove the fairing and front end, one hour to search for steering head bearing nut socket, half hour to make a new one out of 1.5" pipe, half hour on the new triple tree, ten minutes on the fork extensions, then all back... (A two soft drink job  angel )

Darrell called me a couple days later for a follow up.  Seems he's moving to Alabama and setting up a new!  Nice guy and great product.  Kicks the front out and handles much better..

Thanks for sponsering the VRCC Darrell to keep us going!

If you "bend" your forks out, making the wheel base wider, then you are also lowering the front handle bars (think of a bog strectching it's front legs out, and lowering the body).

To help, you extend the length of the forks, whick makes the bike taller again.

You simply unscrew the fork tube cap and add the extension which screws into the threads for the fork cap.  Then, you screw the fork cap into the female end of the extension and you're done!  It brings the front back to near the stock height.

Can't post a picture yet.

So then do you reposition the forks in the triple trees?  Otherwise, unless I'm not understanding this correctly, the fork extensions would just be protuding up higher than the top tree and the forks would still be the same height.

The forks fit up into the solid top piece and it is milled for the bolt heads.  Nothing is exposed on top anymore. No nut, only nice polished aluminum with handlebar risers.  New pinch bolts are provided and the holes for the fairing stays are perfectly located and drilled and tapped..

Please keep in mind the triple tree is being swapped.

Here ya go - a dumba$$ question (or 2)

1. What is the purpose of increasing the rake? How does it affect handling?
2. What are the downside of increasing the rake?

Thanks

CISE,
To get the whole story with all of the geometry issues, give Daryl a call, I am sure he would be glad to explain it. His number is on his web site, link below.

I have posted some websites before about the pros and cons and basic geometry issues with different rakes. a search should bring them up.
my concern is the potential for increased fork seal wear from the new rake. org chopper like rakes used convential forks not inverted like the valkyries, whereas the seals would be higher up on the forks.
maybe its just a visual perception on my part. really don't know either way, just putting it out there for discussion.

Below are two pics of my bike that should give you a good idea of the difference the rake kit makes as far as looks go.  Check out this link where I gave my personal impressions of the change.  This is still the single best mod I ever did to my bike.  Daryl is top notch to deal with.  I hope this helps.

Joe, I'm sure Steelers will chime in but Daryl sells fork extensions to bring the bike back up to near stock height. If memory serves me correctly, Steelers bike has the extensions.

No I did not use extensions.  I lowered the rear so much with the 11.5 inch shocks and lower profile 205/55 Yoko tire, I didnt need them.

I'm putting the 4 degree trees on my I/S with the lower fork tube position the ride height should be the same as stock.
