It appears that a  bunch of emails were sent out from the VRCC gmail account.  All of my delivery failure notices were for addresses beginning with "a" so I think gmail caught it fairly early.

At any rate, if you received an email from the VRCC staff containing only a link it is not really from us.

We have corrected the immediate issue.

Yep I did and my computer is still f---ed up. it has affected my business. not being able to use my computer for a few days has not been good. I am having to close accounts, buy new computer,,,etc.

I'm unclear on what you're saying.  Are you saying you got a bogus email from the VRCC a few days ago?  I'm under the impression that the event only occurred this afternoon.

yes i did and when i opened it my puter went hay wire. All my anti virus went crazy with messages that computer was breached and then it shut down everything. I have some items for sale in the classifieds and the email pertained to my add. so of course i opened it. Its just the world we live in these days. Everyone i have met or had business with on this site seem to be great people. trusting, caring, helpful. What i like to call normal folks. so maybe that is why someone targeted this site. Hopefully I am the only one they got.

Okay that makes more sense.  That was from someone responding to your ad?  that would be different than than the issue with mail being sent out from the VRCC Staff email account.  That issue should only have been for a few minutes on the 18th.

It certainly would be pleasing to do so, but I've no way of knowing who it was.  Someone was able to guess the gmail account password, signed in and sent out junk.

Gmail was on the ball and caught the pattern really quickly.
