What does the data say?

Corinth, Texas

« on: May 19, 2011, 07:45:50 PM »

As stated in another post, I rode most of a 750 mile day in the rain on Tuesday.  Some synapse-lapse during my pre-ride packing left me without adequate hand protection.  I had gloves that would keep me warm.  I had gloves that would keep me dry.  What I didn't have were gloves that would keep me warm AND dry.

I'd checked WalMart and truck stops for something adequate.  Nothin'.  Gloves are out of season at Wally World and truck stops don't have anything but work gloves.

So, in Richmond, Indiana, I bought:

I clumped into the all-too-convenient Harley dealer and said, "Gloves.  Warm.  Dry."  They pointed to a rack and I picked the least expensive offering with the smallest possible logos (no easy feat, by the way.)   I could have bought the equivalent at half the price at any decent hunting and fishing emporium, but I'd checked the internet and the nearest major outlet (Cabelas) was several hundred miles away in Wheeling, WV.

I think 15 minutes work with an Exacto knife will take care of the logos, properly sanitizing them for regular use.  In the pinch though, they did the job and made the rest of the ride endurable, if not simply possible.

Funny!   Should be easy to "fix" them though.

Do your hands vibrate more when you come to a stop in these?

An hour in any other direction and you would of been at a Honda motorcycle store: Springfield, Ohio; Indianapolis, In; Ft. Wayne, In; Dayton, Oh.  Really nice superstore in Springfield, Ohio beside the harley store.  but when the hawk calls you have to cover up.  The TSC in Richmond might of had something... but you would have to know that area to find it.  Displaced Hoosier I am!

Me too -- Ft Wayne.

But when you're on the highway with another 500 miles in front of you for the day, it's any port in a storm and an hour detour isn't in the cards.

If wish I'd thought of it.  But, I wouldn't have blamed you at all if you'd passed.  It wasn't exactly ideal weather for it.

TJMAXX usually has wall of winter stuff this time of year.  Bought my last dry warm set in May at our store a few years ago.  Still had a lot of battery powered ones too!

No Problem, but I would have been up for it. Just ask T.P. I'm a glutton for punishing cross winds. Anyhow would have been great to see you and to share a few lies. Glad you made it save. And BTW I'm still wearing my HD helmet and I haven't burst into flames yet!  2funny

Next time then, if you haven't spontaneously combusted by then.  You can only buck the odds so long, don't ya know. Wink
