I was at Costco a  couple of weeks ago looking for my favorite everyday sippin' scotch (10 yr old Glenmorangie) and spied a Kirkland branded Kentucky bourbon....small batch, 7 year, distilled and bottled in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. For $19.95 I decided to give it a go.  Amazingly, it is a pretty fair drink so I got curious as to who actually distilled it and kind of got wrapped around the axle and looks like it might be "Buffalo Trace?" or Beam.  Has anyone tried this stuff and any idea who really distills and bottles it?

According to the US Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (the TTB), Costco's bourbon is made by Jim Beam (see the TTB certificate of label approval here).

Just got a reply from my b/i/law.  They are bottleing it for Costco.  He said it is a very good 7 year old 103 proof.  He is a senior shipping and recieving Supervisor.  I used to get sample stuff, but told him to let someone else have it.  have not tasted it in 15 years.

Costco had/has the 1.75 Beam for 19.99. I'll stand fast. maybe not too fast though.

HG here....
Actually..... I like my #1 and #2 barrel...on the rocks.... and the #3 barrel neat....  Each has it's own flavor profile..... but ....they are " ULTRA SMALL BATCH" !!!!!!!

No I have not tried the Costco brand.....sounds like a bargain!!!!!  But I'm not a big Beam fan......

Chilled Shots of Beam at Hooters was a Favorite of mine.

They have a slogan at Beam,,"If you don't like it send it back we will drink it"

MMMMMMnnnnn...the more I drink this the better I like it.   Won't replace my scotch but a nice change of pace.  I also tried the Kirkland 18 year scotch distilled and bottled by McCallen....but it just ain't the same.  The real stuff is smoother and less bite, but at half the price is still drinkable.  I suspect it is the difference in what barrel wood it is aged in.....

As that guy on TV says......stay thirsty , my friends!!     cooldude
