He opened up here right before Katrina. He was running a small personal car down to the Gulf once a week and filling it full of crawdads and misc real ingredients then bringing it up here fresh. Brought family up to 'work' after katrina. gas price raised. We didn't figure he'd last long.
But it was sure nice to be able to drive 10 miles and sit around a table while he shelled crawdads and talked recipes.

a sack has about 35 lbs each.... Yep.. we would hurt ourselves!!!!  Corn, new potatos, mushrooms..... cold beer, and LOTS of paper towels!

Why do you think I came home to New Orleans this week?  I have been seeing crawfish and shrimp prices lower than I have in some time.  We enjoyed some shrimp po-boys with shrimp bigger than your thumb, so much food you couldn't possibly ask for desert.  Crawfish/seafood stores with excellent prices and fresh, so fresh, and grocery stores here with crawfish, potatoes, sausage, and corn boiling in big pots in front on the parking lots.  Gosh, the food is everywhere and smells great!
Also, the French Quarter Festival is this weekend.  Lotsa music in the street, on every corner, bands only the locals have heard of but, great music only New Orleans has.
We will be here until Sunday unless we can figure a way to stay a day or two longer.  I don't know how I will get home because my gut is gonna push me way back by the time we do leave.
Yeah, Silent Sam, aka Strider, I know of that which you speak.
