Hey to ALL! For a couple of weeks now I have been hearing a crunching grinding noise from the fornt of the Valk. Could not figure out what it was. Yesterday after work I fueled up the sickle & set my trip meter ont the sickle to 0's & also on my G.P.S. I had today off work because of the Saturday rotation at work (my Saturday to work) & headed up to Starbucks for Coffee, sandwich & a Blue Berry Scone. I glanced at the odometer & trip meater as I was backing out of my driveway. I also glanced at it at Starbucks. I showed the same mileage at Starbucks as it showed at home. I thought, "Well that's odd." I rolled the trip meter around a couple of times & rode some more & still it was inop. So, I rode up to the Honda Dealer & went to the parts counter & asked if they had a Speedo Cable for a 1997 Honda Valkyrie Standard. The Kid looked it up & said he had one left in stock. I bought it & put it in & now the speedo works fine... & the crunching, grinding noise went away. I thought it was a wheel bearing or some internal engine noise. I am glad it was only the speedo cable. I have an IRON BUTT ride coming up on June 18th so I will need my speedo to be in good order. All's well that ends well, don't ya know? Bought some new riding boots today too. It was a very fast day off work. Hope you all have a nice Memorial Day week-end & be very careful out on the road. tommy t

thanks tomm!!  it's great to hear of easy fixxes!!  my speedo cable left me with a jumping speedometer once.  here i thought the worse, something expensive, but turned out to be just the cable.
