Introduction

This is a new design for a universal gear indicator that can be fitted to any motorcycle as an aftermarket accessory. Its main advantage is that its operation depends entirely on the gear shift lever movement, instead of connecting to speedometer and tachometer sensors (found in expensive commercial devices), which are rarely available in older motorcycles. It consists of a main circuit including a 7‑segment LED indicator, two Hall sensors that are attached to the motorcycle frame, and a small magnet placed on the gear shift lever.

What the 4377 do you need a gear indicator for?

Just another bunch of wire to screw up and cause ya problems down the road.

I've ridden motors for over a million miles + and have only had one bike with an indicator,    Guess what, never used the damn thing.

Just my opinion.

And what the hell is 4377??  Reminds me of George Carlin, talking about words people use, to avoid other words:

Some people say "shoot" instead of "sh*t." They can't fool me, man. "Shoot" is "sh*t" with two o's.

Means the same thing.

As for wires, to screw up. This concept attached to nothing in the electrics or electronics of the bike. So, if it goes out, it goes out. Nothing else is affected. Rather like the light in your glove box - affects NOthing, when it's not working.

Ferris - the link you posted gives the pdf's for etching the boards. I am set up for etching, and if you aren't, and want a set of boards, let me know, and I'll etch up a couple sets. Here's some I made recently, for some solid state relays:

Nice use of the ATTiny25 - I use them a bit, in the computerized christmas light show, and have the USBTiny programmer.
