i had to!!  just too funny of a subject!!

anyway, to get to the oil question, i've got a 49cc scooter, it's got an auto oiler for the 2cycle engine.  one problem is, it's getting too much oil!!  when it's not running, the carb fills with oil and won't start.

any idea's??  (there, i changed the subject!!)  Grin

(this is part of the "life's a joke" policy i have.)

The little reed valve that admits the oil as needed is either plugged up or defective.

Thats one of the problems with those Chinese bikes.

We have an elderly customer who rides one.  He is in the shop about every 3rd day with some problem or another with it.     Since he is on fixed income and not much $$$$ my son works on it and fixes it for nothing, unless it needs parts, then he charges him his cost for them.

Alph,
you did not indicate if the oil in question is Rotella (synth-and what color bottle) or Mobile 1 (15W-50, or what), or Royal Purple or Amsoil (and if your brother-in law is the Amsoil dealer). You also weren't clear on why you aren't using dino oil. Nor did you mention just how much quieter the transmission is. And without knowing how often you change the oil (and often is good "cuz it's cheaper than a rebuild). And the question cannot be answered without knowing the filter type and where you get 24 at a time for cheap and who actually makes the filter with 13 different brand names but one is obviously better than the rest.
If you could clear up those bits of missing information, I believe your question can be answered. Answered in 38 different ways with no wrong answers by 71 different people (only 6 of whom actually have first hand knowledge- the rest repeating posts they have read, dating back to pre-Valkyrie days). Answered the same too, because nobody reads the posts after the initial one.
After you address these and other issues (many not related to your question) you will soon be made aware of by the "experts", I may try to chime in with a solution.
That is, if no one hijacks the thread to say "Howdy, Billy Bob-ain't seen you and Shirley since whenever. Did you get the birthday card?"
And puhleeze do not show a pic. Or we will be forced to talk endlessly about where you got the chrome thingie on the watchamacallit, how much did it cost, and why doesn't Elmers Cheapo Parts carry it anymore. This often goes on for days and can detract from getting your original question answered (if you can, at that point, even remember it).
Ride with a smile!

Find the little carburetor and it is underneath it.

Bring it down on your visit and we show ya how to fix it.    Just a simple clean and maybe a little bend on the reed.

How about a cheap petcock on the oiler?

It could work.
