Just Riding The Many Storms Of Life

Ft.Worth, Texas

« on: May 28, 2011, 09:07:54 PM »

As one vet to all others out there, I want to thank you all for your patriotism, courage, and sacrifice.  I know some of you gave a lot more than others, but we all served and served a purpose in the military.  Be it a cook, pilot, law enforcement, payroll, whatever, we all did our part.  I am very proud to have been in the military.  It brings a swell of pride when I hear someone say to a vet, "Thank you".  I just wanted to tell all you vets the same, "Thank you for what you do and for what you did, when you were in."

Walt, as one vet to you and all the others, I'd like to thank you for your service and sacrifice for our country.  As the saying goes: All gave some, some gave all.  Those who made the ultimate sacrifice are the ones we should be especially grateful to.  As General George Patton said, "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.  Rather we should thank God that such men lived."

As a non vet I would also like to thank you for your patriotism, courage, and sacrifice.  The BBQ won't be lit in Singapore on Monday but my American flag will be flying.

Mostly, my blessing is that all the new veterans, the men and women of Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, are able to come home, reconnect with families, find good jobs.  I know this is not easy... a two tour Iraq Marine... the son of a friend of mine... spent a long time getting a job.  I think employers who fail to look at vets miss the obvious... in Vietnam, it was a draft... in Iraq, volunteers.  Hell of a man/woman that voluntarily puts themselves in harm's way.

Same to all vets out there. Was glad to serve alongside all who answered the call, past, present, and future. Haven't been out of the service, or back from my last deployment, a year yet, still adjusting a bit to 'civie' life.

Thank you all for your service.  Was never an easy task... and never will be.  You are so right... Freedom is not free.  Thank you for your patriotism ... especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.  You are not forgotten.
