Screeching halt....well, not exactly screeching, but the rear pads froze up and were tight as a drum...guess that gravel dust from riding 3 miles on a gravel road yesterday did them in....will post pics of my ride later

That's odd...
I ride about three quarters of a mile (total) every time I go in and out from home. I've never had a problem with gravel dust and we still have a fair amount of gravel roads here in Oklahoma and I'm on some of them regularly.
I hope it was just the dust getting to your brakes, but I think a full system check may be in order.
Best O luck, and let us know what you find.

i ride five miles at a time on gravel and sometimes more and have never had that problem.  Please keep us informed if it was the gravel dust causing problems.

Stanley, I'll bet your little pins are cruddy and won't let the caliper float like it should.

Let us know what ya find out.

Mike Marshall came over and we rebuilt that rear brake caliper a few thousand miles ago...I remember polishing those pins up at that time....

The dirt road yesterday was pretty dusty and about half way down it, I had to cross a shallow stream...might have been 4-5" deep and I went through it really slow..I doubt I splashed any water up on the brakes....

I had just braked for a car turning in front of me and noticed I had a lot less power....for a millisecond I thought maybe the petcock had come apart again, but when I pulled the clutch in, the bike slowed down WAY too fast and I knew my rear pads were still wedged against the rotor...I had to ride it a 1/2 mile before I found a good place to pull it over....a Church parking lot.....

Took the left bag off and pried the pads back to push the pistons in.....and rode 80 miles home without using the rear brakes.....that is HARD to do.....I use the front brakes without any problem anyways, but I like to use the rear brake to sometimes pull the front end down in the twistys(without locking the rear end up though)

I had a rock go on top of the rear brake lever when I first got my bike. When I applied the brakes it wedged in there not letting the pedal return all the way up. That was a nice easy fix.  Smiley

Knockin a rock out-who a thunk it. That is the neat thing about this here board. Somebody had the problem before you did and was kind enough to let you and all of us know the fix. Way cheaper thataway. RIDE SAFE.
