I was thinking about how important "Decoration Day" is and was taught to me by my elders.  They made a whole day of it with the old soldiers having a parade throughout the countryside in West Virginia and holding services at the hillside grave yards.  The family would all attend just as though it was a Church service and later have picnic lunches.

I didn't make it to decorate Brian or Steve's final resting place but I certainly do remember them as good and honest men.  I knew Brian longer than Steve but none the less carried Steve's memory on my bike for many miles.  Old Skool (Steve) was killed while riding his Valkyrie by a car that turned in front of him.  Brian passed away due to illness but he was much too young to go.

I know that their families miss them and this day has been rough on them.  They're never to be forgotten.

Smokin Joe and Ron "Wolf" put this on my bike back there at Steve's funeral and I took him thousands of miles with me. Rest in peace Bros.  I know they have Valkyries in Heaven  cooldude

cooldude thanks for reminding us mojo, my mom used to do the same thing with us , she would pack all five of us kids in the car with a picnic lunch packed and head out to dads grave.

I didn't know Old Skool or B.S.Nicely well, I met them I believe at InZane out west in 06 and I sure remember their posts on this forums and I remember how good of friends they were.  As we all celebrate a holiday with our families sometimes we get so caught up with trying to fit too much into celebrating we forget what the holiday is. I'll be heading out to the cemetery today myself.  (mom's probably already there,I swear 92 and I can't keep up to her) Wink

We must remember Benson Shirley too.  I remember him as a teenager too much.  But he was a truley a Valkyrie Man.  Much too young also. Those West Virginia boys always find each other no matter where and it's my vision that those three met up in Heaven and Benson's got em both in a hammerlock.

I always tear up when I think about Benson. I met him at the Wiskey Run last year, and we talked at the pool for a while. I'll always remember him as a gentle giant, he was a sweet boy. It just doesn't seem fair that he had to go at such a young age.    R.I.P. Benson.
