Martin Johnsen May 31 at 4:56pm Report
Hi Todd! My name is Martin Johnsen, and live in Norway. Earlier to day I sold my Goldwing. Now I am looking for a Valkyrie. After a few hours on internet, I saw a picture of the most beautiful Valkyrie Turer. 3 more hours and I got Your name. Do You still got the bike? Is it for sale? Or do You know about another beauty for sale?I am looking for a spesial looking bike. Looking forward to hear from You. Regards. Martin,Norway.

I wouldn't call it a scam..... right away at least.   I think there is a demand for these bikes overseas, and probably a good bit in Norway.   Start a communication and see where it goes, but play it safe, cautious and under your rules.  Could be a scam...and you could have fun playing it out...... or could be an opportunity to befriend someone that admires Valkyries.  Ya just never know......

I personally wouldn't assume guilt just because he is from Norway  and did a little internet searching to make a contact in America. Nigeria and Norway both start with "N"'s to be sure, but I am not aware of Norway being famous for scams. We are famous for being stubborn and eating funny fish, but not for being thieves. Of course he could be anywhere, as could any of us. Just tell him yours isn't for sale and offer some suggestions about how to find one. Maybe suggest a few threads on what to look for and an invite to our forum.

My suggestion is simply to offer him the same courtesy and consideration you would give any of us as fellow bikers. Ask him how he got your name. Why he likes the Valkyrie. But if he starts talking about cashier's checks for more than the amount, or your new lottery winnings, or getting money out of the country for relatives...THEN dump him like a hot rock.

I hope we haven't all gotten so suspicious that we won't talk to anyone anymore about our favorite bikes.

Personally, I love screwing with real live scammers (see 419eater.com for examples from someone else)...but so far this hasn't set off any bells for me. But if he turns out to be a bad guy just flip him to me and I'll mess with his head and see if I can bag him as a trophy.

I have been working in the Czech Republic for almost two years.  There seem to be plenty of Valks and plenty of all kinds of cycles around Europe.  I can't imagine he needs to ship one from the US.

I kind of thought it strange he would be looking at bikes over here. I am answering his post, and telling him mine is not really on the market, that there are plenty others for sale. But if he offered enough I might part with it. He did point me to pictures on here of big red.

And yea it makes me think when someone comes out of the blue, and wants to buy anything I own.
