Anybody running an auto thermostat. Seems like I read here somewhere that there's an auto thermostat that will cool the heat output a little. It's all ready in the high 90's here and the 2KI/S is sweating the stones off a me. Any info greatly appreciated. Peace, DG.

Heat output of the engine is based upon the quantity of fuel consumed.  You can't change this except by using less fuel.

I’ve got an auto thermostat in my cycle.  I originally went with a cooler thermostat, but my fuel mileage dropped like a rock!!  Went back to the original temp range and the mileage went back to normal.  I’m not 100% certain, but I believe its 52mm diameter, and a temp of 180.  Don’t quote me on that though.  I also "think" it's a Honda civic thermostat.  if I were you, and I were to do it all over again, what i would do is take out your old thermostat, boil it in water with a thermometer and find out at what temperature it opens at, if it's with in specks, it's still good.  I remember it was a PITA to replace 'cause my threads stripped out, original bolts rusted in the aluminum.  Had to weld the stripped out hole with aluminum, drilled and tapped it out, then had to mill the top flat 'cause the aluminum warped with the heat.  Should have just bought a replacement for $10 from pinwel!!

Probably your best bet. I don't think the thermostat is going to do anything for heat coming off the engine.

Sugerbear, that's the link I was talkin about. I checked the part # he gave and it comes back as a Beck & Arnley 160, not 180. the 180 # is 689.
Joe, savin up for those Baker's. Thanks for the link.
Anybody else running a 160 and had fuel mileage issues? (thanks for the warning Alph.)
Thanks to all, peace DG.
