Not this Friday but the following Friday will be the Hillbilly Run to Franklin, WVA!  Visiting my home state makes this ride special for me.  I'm torn between Riding up with the Wild Bunch or riding up Thursday to Princeton, WVA and spending the night with my sis.  My two nephews both ride Harleys and it would be nice to ge a ride in with them.  I could still meet up with the Wild Bunch as they come thru on Friday.  Whichever way I decide to go, it will be a great weekend!  WooHoo!

Having attended the Gettysburg ride 2 years ago and the Whiskey Run last year, I'm really looking forward to this ride.  I just hope I'm able to make it.  I've been fighting a bad back for a few months and between that and the really crappy weather, I haven't ridden more than a few times this spring.  But I'm riding back and forth to work (26 miles each way) this week and next week to see if my back is going to be able to endure it.  If not, I'll have to back out.  I rode today and it wasn't too bad except for the bad bumps...especially over bridge deck joints and things.  It's just over 200 miles from my house to ground zero, though.  So that's a big leap from two 26 mile jaunts with a 8.5hour rest in between. Undecided

Bob, Get one of those elastic support belts like they wear at Home Depot.  That would give you a lot of support and comfort!

I'll be leaving next Thursday to 2 lane to Hickory, NC on my KLR650. Stay overnight with a friend and then Friday continue on to Franklin, WV via part of the BRP from Blowing Rock to Galax, VA.

From Franklin to Moab, UT Yee-ha!

Highbinder will post I am sure....but I met him on Monday and we prerode the ride....all Highbinder had to say is unlike the Kentucky and Gettysburg trips....this "Hillbilly Highway"  is "A RIDE"  lots of turns and mountians....looks like 7 or 8 hours of riding to make the loop back to ground zero

Yep, it's gonna make me or break me  2funny

I'm giving myself about 6 days to get there from Franklin.

I've ridden the blacktop in the area now it's time to get dirty.

This is the main reason for the trip - White Rim Trail - 105 mile off road loop
