Anybody been here? What are your takes on it? Any tips? Thinking about going there this year since we will be already in Sturgis.

JP and I went during our Billy/Wyatt run out west 2 years ago.  The guy who gave the talk (Ranger) was very informative.  I think you can go up by Devils Tower and over to it (I think).  It is in the plains - not much to see but Bear and I are planning on going this year as well.  If you haven't been - it is interesting.  Like I said the ride up to it ain't much to see - but the battlefield is cool.

Now, if you are coming from the west to it - it is worth taking the Big Horn Mountains (in Wyoming) - those are AWESOME!

How long does it take to view everything?

I think we spent like an hour or hour and a half there.  There is a musuem and then you can go outside and listen to the story from the Ranger - like I said, ours was really knowledgable.  Walk up to where the last stand was held - a little hill.  You can pretty much see everything (the entire battlefield) from the musuem.  There really isn't a WHOLE lot to see - but if you haven't been - it is cool to see where it happened.  Really and truely, an hour you can see everything.

212 goes from Spearfish to Little Big Horn.  We took it about half way back and then dropped down to Gillete for the night.  212 (if I remember right) is a nice 2 lane that is good condition and goes through some hills and the Cheyenne reservation.  Nice ride.  We rode it from Little Big Horn to Broadus and then dropped down 59 to Gillette.

If you are going up Interstate 90 - MAN, take the 14 - 14A loop through the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming - awesome ride!!!!!!!!

...we blew through there on our way to Bad Lands....very cool lil town...LOTS of history....Wild Bill Hickock and Clammity Jane are both burried there....side by side...wanted to do a photo op there BAD.....but didnt get the chance....worth the detour, if ya never been....

Yea been there few times. Its where I find a bikini bike wash! Grin I like the town. I always liked wild west history. Gamble awhile at Cadilac Jacks. GiG, Kit, and I stopped in sallon #10 and had few. Never did see the reinactment but got this pic in a coffin. Hope to make the grave sites this year. We then happened to stay in Yankton Sd where they tried the guy that shot Wild Bill.

Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried side by side in the cemetery above Deadwood.  The guide told us Wild Bill is probably turning in his grave because he and Calamity Jane couldn't stand each other.
