search is your friend, don't be afraid.  cooldude

any 15w40 or 5w40 diesel oil is the way to go. I presently use amsoil 10w30/30 HD diesel oil

Honda designed it to use 10W40 motorcycle 4 stroke oil.  My guess that would be best. That is what is in mine and will be again at the next change. Big can of worms to open.  Everyone tries different thing.

I found the the Rotella synthetic 5-40 to be noisy. I previously used Spectro's 10-40 synthetic blend in my Suzuki for 20 years, with good results. I just changed to Rotella T5 10-40 synthetic blend. This is my first experience with this oil. However I'm pleased so far.
God bless,

Man have you ever opened a can of worms!  Evil

Let's get back to discussing religion or politics (it's safer).  Grin

I use Amsoil in "everything" that I own.

I tell people is that if you aren't using someone's synthetic, you're crazy.

And I feel that Amsoil is the best synthetic.

I like the fact that they don't rest on their laurels.

They consistently work to improve their products.

Many have their own opinion about whose oil is best.

Amsoil does have a lot of good information on their website, not just about their products but about oil and lubricants in general.

Here are some links:

www.amsoil.com

http://www.amsoil.com/products/streetbikes/WhitePaper.aspx

Oh and NEVER, I mean NEVER ask which is the best oil filter to use.  Evil  Evil  Evil  Evil

You can't beat Riezon SuperSyn Red, if you can find it you'll want the -5/100W.   crazy2  Or if you can't find it you can go with what I prefer Amsoil 10/40. Grin

I just cut the guts out of an old oil filter and stuff it full of old panty hose, then I tape it back together and it leaks a little, but then I dont have to worry about what kind of oil I am running because it is not in there very long any how ! Cuts down on oil changes too (kinda changes itself) and the bonus is how much better I can fit in with my Harley buddies because when the big dog marks his territory the lil dogs pay attention !  2funny

incorrect. read your owners and service manuals.

There is a SAE report, which I have posted before, which states that the major manufacturers develop their engines for 10w30.

Ha! You guys who are tryin' to give a serious answer are just "too new" to the fold to understand Mosa's intent. He has roots in the VRCC from WAY BACK in the early days. Back then oil questions were non stop and he's just rekindling some old humor. Ah yes, the good 'ol days.  laugh

The best oil is what you're using. Now let's talk about motorcycle tires vs car tires.

Nothing like a brand new discussion. Grin Grin Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

While cleaning up the new to you bike and changing the oil, don't forget to replace the headlight and blinker fluid!

I recommend this stuff, quality stuff - http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=6

Also, you need to remember to drain the winter air out of the tires and replace it with summer air now that it's warming up, very important step that many people neglect...

I get used oil from Burger King, I used to use french fry oil from Micky D's but it hardens up when it cools down and I burnt my house down heating up the engine block so I could go for a ride  tickedoff
